Stayed one week with wife and kids in the Aparthotel
Our overall view is positive. I like the combination of golf, great sport facilities, a broad selection of free classes, such as Aerobic, Step and Zumba and the possibility of relaxing by the pool.
All the staff members we met, were very helpfull and pleasant.
The room was spacious and in a good condition. Some rooms have balconies facing the ocean, but bear in mind, that it can be rather windy during the day, limiting the usefulness of the balcony.
The surrounding gardens are well kept and leaves a quality impression.
The Location is remote, however the neighboring village of Las Playitas is within walking distance, offering a couple of restaurants. El Toril was really good. The town of Grand Tarajal, about 5km away, is for some odd reason referred to, as the 2nd largest Town of Fuerteventura. When counting the local Canarians living there, that might be mathematically correct (eventhough I sincerely doubt it), but for tourists on Fuerteventura, I believe Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Puerto Del Rosario, Costa Calma and Morro del Jable will seem a lot more interesting.
Our rental car was highly appreciated and I will recommend everybody staying a week or longer to have one. Its pretty much the same cost as a taxi from and to the airport. Please note that most of the local companies have invented a way to enhance the margin. They charge you for a full tank of gas, and leave it to you, to return it empty. I doubt many will dare playing the game of "returning it empty" on the way to the airport and Its really not about the money, but I simply dislike that way of doing business. We booked with Hertz a month before arrival.
The Apart Hotel offers No WIFI !!, not even in public areas. When traveling with two teenagers, even though they are reasonable in their demand for staying connected with their Facebook friends during the holiday, that can easily add 100 MB (=200 EUR) of datatraffic to you mobile phonebill.
Our choise of Halfboard was a mistake. The breakfast buffet was generally OK, but the evening buffet was NOT. Our impression was, that the restaurant was in a cost-saving-mode, always choosing the cheaper alternative. There was no variations, no "theme" evenings and no "finesse" to any of the dishes. I was told that a new General Manager will deal with that in the months to come. The Italian Restaurant on the Square was however good.
The Golf Course offers some really fantastic views from hole 2-13, but also a few flaws. Its a very short par 67 course, carved into the natural landscaped. Unfortunately with very dry and fast fairways and a lack of landing areas. Quite often your ball will keep running until it ends up unplayable in a ditch or in the lava stones just off fairway.
We ended up spending most of the time on the fine driving range, putting green and on the last 5 holes, which are nearest to the resort.
Take away the low quality Dinner buffet and add wifi areas and this resort would be a sure "very good". For thoose seeking an active vacation in a pleasant climate and beautifull surroundings, this is the obvious choice on the Canary Islands.
