This place has great facilities if you want a fitness filled holiday, there are classes on almost all day of every day which are free to attend. It is also a great place if you just want to relax by the pool in the sunshine, the only down side is that the sun loungers aren't the most comfortable!! It is great value with very spacious rooms and very comfy beds. We booked half board and were very impressed with the variety and quality of food. All round a great place for a trip away.

Seems it has changed name to Playitas Aparthotel. Great training facilities and a good atmosphere. Clean place with good food (actually much better than in December 2009). A nice place for children and people that want a carm vacation.

We recently stayed at the Bahia Grande aparthotel. This is part of the playitas resort which consists of a hotel (Cala del Sol), villas and apartments. The shop that supplies the hotel is reasonably priced and well stocked. They consistently serve fresh bread, croissants, pain au chocolat etc.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable but the only downside as with most places the TV has only 1 completely English speaking channe (BBC World News).

The restaurants on site are OK. The Spanish restaurant sells good paella but the Italian needs improving.

The pool area is large and has many sun loungers. The beach is a 30 sec walk away and is secluded.

In the neighbouring village of las playitas there is a fantastic restaurant called El Poril. We'd highly recommend the mussels and fish of the day. I had the steak which was lovely and for only 12€ you can't complain.

The sports facilities are great. The gym is great and there is a great selection of classes to do such as aerobics, spin and step. Some things are free with your stay but others require a fee or deposit but the reception staff always help you with any enquiries you have.

Overall we had a fantastic and relaxing time.

Don't trust what is said below! I can assure you, our stay at this hotel was amazing.
- Fantastic staff who responded to every request , whithin minutes.
- Very comfortable beds/rooms (spacious).
- The waterslide offers a lot of fun
- The beach just a quick walk away
- Exceptionaly clean
- Fantastic pool with jacuzzi, waves...
- A number of sport activities in groups worth trying (e.g water aerobics, salsa...)
- Excellent food in the neighbouring village *
- The value is very good in the city of Gran Tarajal, just a few minutes away in bus. It's not a touristic place which can explain the cheap prices (I bought beautiful pair of shoes there for under 10 euros).

The bad stuff...
- I wouldn't recommend this for anyone in search of bars and discos.
- The food quality is very poor at the hotel's restaurants.
This hotel is perfect for families and athlets. If you shop outside the hotel, you will be surprised how much you can get for your money.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!!

By accident, we discovered a fantasic restaurant in the small village beside the hotel. Its name is EL TORIL, I think, and the food was amazing. All kinds of fish are at the menu, and also a beautiful sirloin steak for only 10 euros. This was the best I've ate on a vacation. The owner was incredibly nice. He gave us a bottle of expensive balsamic, and also the recipe for his wife's delicious cheese dessert. If you want to eat well, go there. It's practicaly undiscovered by the tourists, only the spanish go there.

HOW TO REACH IT: Follow the beach promenade until you reach las playitas and go all the way to the end. Turn left, by the kiosk, and continue. You'll see a supermarket( by the way with excellent things), and if you look to the right, a little up, you'll see a heineken sign. It's there. Get there and get in to the restaurant.
