With the Tirol, what you see is what you get. It doesn't pretend to be more than what it says it is; a decent, clean, family-run hotel smack-dab in the middle of the Formigal 'urbanizacion' about 1km from the lifts. If you're looking for a fancy, luxurious room after a day of skiing, look elsewhere. If all you need is a clean room, well-functioning heat and hot water, a solid Spanish-style breakfast, then Hotel Tirol is a good bet. The family owners are around all day to make sure your stay is satisfactory. We found our first room to smell horribly of smoke and they switched us no problem. Ask for rooms (number 01 through 07) on the south side for good views of the mountains. Free ample parking, stumbling distance to all the bars, 100 meters from the free shuttle to the ski area. Further pluses are free ski storage, free Wifi and the price is nice - our weekend rate was half of the other hotels at Formigal.
