“lovely hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2007

Lovely hotel my husband and two daughters and friend 15 and 16yearolds stayed we had three rooms on the 3rd floor over looking the beach which was literally on the doorstep. However they were doubles a bit akward for the 2 girls having to share a bed but our lack of spanish and the staff virtually speaking no english we just put up with this small problem. The location is great shops on the doorstep as well. we stayed all incusive well worth it and no wristband just acredit card which was great able to go about with out feeling like ahospital patient. We had a car and paid 70euros for the week to use hotel carpark.
Hotel staff in the restaurant were pretty grumpy and spoke no english although we were trying spanish as best we could the hotel is nearly all spanish with some germans so staff knew german better. All said couldnt fault most things a bit of al lonely holiday as we were the only people from britain there and the entertainment was awful just kiddie disco and entertainment team doing a little dance. We went out most nights or sat in the bar .A big bonus was the spanish people dont get up at crack of dawn to reserve sun beds and towels provided everyday.

We deeply regret not having obtained your full satisfaction during your stay among us, as all Playa Senator Human Team work very hard in order to achieve that aim.

Regarding your comment about the fact that nobody at the hotel reception speaks English, I have to say that the majority of the receptionists normally speak English and German and some of them more languages. There could be one or two members of the staff that don’t speak English well, but I have to disagree with your statement that nobody speaks English. On the other hand, I am pleased to inform you that during all year long we offer free English, German and French courses to the staff and we subsidize any other language that they speak or wish to learn. This percentage remarkably increases in all our receptions, although, without any doubt, it is one of the aspects which we constantly try to improve.

With regard to your comment about the car park, we wish to inform you that comparing it with other car parks around the area; our prices are lower than the average. Normally, we charge a fee to be able to control the hotel vehicle traffic.

One of the greatest problems we find when talking about entertainment is that we have three main markets, Spanish, English and German as well as other nationalities and it is very difficult to make a perfect entertainment in the different languages and for all tastes and ages. We make a big effort and improve through constant and permanent training, making a wide selection of young entertainers every year, who receive long specialized courses, forcing them to speak several languages. All the entertainment activities vary from one day to another and furthermore we have a specialized team in charge of developing new shows and constantly improving in this sense.

I am very sorry about your comment on the restaurant service as we make a big effort to train the staff to improve kindness and attention to all our guests. It is the most important aspect for us. We would be very grateful if you would be so kind as to contact us to study these subjects in depth and help us to take the appropriate measures so that they never happen again.

We hope to have a new opportunity to welcome you again and to be able to get your satisfaction on next stays, as we would like to make you feel BETTER than AT HOME.

“Great Hotel - Excellent time - Until the Spanish Arrive!!”

Great hotel, until the spanish arrive!!
We have just returned from this great hotel, 2 adults and 2 children aged 2 and 6. We had a fanastic time, The hotel is very clean, the rooms are very spacious, cleaned daily, new bedding every 2-3 days. The restaurant is very large, the food... there is something for everyone - the sea food is great, salad's, desserts, fruit, freshly cooked steaks and just about every slab of meat you could think of, pasta every night for those of you that require pasta everyday!! pancakes for the kids (big and small) everynight and lunch time - my kids thought this was great!!! watch out for your waistline!!!!
The pool is great, the two water slides are in constant use, it's not a very big pool, but big enough. It's cleaned everyday, be warned though, although the signs clearly state no reserving of sunbeds it happens, if you've not got you towels out by 8.30 forget it! The pool towles are provided by the hotel free of charge and you can change them daily if you wish.
It's in a good location, although this is an uncommericalised part of spain, there is not a lot of english speaking shop owners, not a lot of shops come to that, but it is very pleasant and clean.
The horse and cart ride is worth a go, my kids loved it, as well as the train and the bike riding.
The BAD bit.... our 1st week was fantastic - cannot fault a thing, however, the spanish holiday makers arrived at week two, don't get me wrong - i love spain, and much prefer a spanish hotel, however they overtook the place, the kids are awful, the noise level rose, the litter started building up round the pool area, the spanish kids picked on the british kids. The adults are just obnoxious! this beautiful 4* hotel turned into more like a 2*, The spainish people go on holiday the 2nd weekend of August, my advice is to go before then.... It didn't ruin our holiday though, it was annoying but it was our holiday and you've gotta make the most of it, the restaurant doea become a bit of a nightmare though, you have trouble finding a seat if you don't get in early enough.
The kids club is spanish, but the entertainers are great and do speak english, if anything they get special attention coz they are british! Is a good club, they do loads of different things.
I would give this an excellent but the 2nd week just let it down that little bit. Don't be put off I would go again, just earlier next time.

First of all I would like to thank you for your opinion, as thanks to your comments I can know your perception of our PRODUCT and the most important thing the QUALITY and KINDNESS of THE STAFF.

I am very pleased to know that PLAYA SENATOR Family has been able to satisfy you during the most appreciated days of the year: YOUR HOLIDAYS, although I obviously regret that the second week of your stay wasn’t completely satisfactory as our main aim is to make our guests feel better than AT HOME during their stay and I assure you that all our human team work over that direction.

With regard to your comment about the problems that aroused on the 2nd week, I would like to seize the opportunity to inform you that we have two different seasons where our guests are completely different too. In winter, most of them are senior people of long-term stays and from Central European countries and in summer, young people and families, being the majority of them from Spain and Portugal. We try to get everybody’s satisfaction and the staff is constantly trained in that sense.

In any case, we would like to welcome you again in any of our establishments from the Coast of Almería, Costa Tropical/Almuñécar, Costa del Sol, Cádiz, Huelva or the Canary Islands. We also offer you our urban hotels, named SENATOR and located in Barcelona, Madrid, Cádiz and Marbella and Granada opening soon, and have a new opportunity to make you feel better than AT HOME this time during ALL your stay.

“great value beach hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2007

Stayed two nights in July for a short beach break. The hotel is a typical 4* package holiday resort hotel with a mixtue of hotel rooms and apartments. We (3 adults) stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was spotless and spacious. The hotel doesn't look more than about 5 years old so everything is is good condition. The pool was crowded, loud, and full of children so we stayed clear. The beach, right on the door step, was wonderful and was not at all crowded. There were a couple of beach bars to buy a cold beer or ice cream. The sun loungers/umbrellas were not expensive, costing only EUR 4 per person per day.
The majority of the guests seemed to be German / Belgian / Spanish so the staff, on the whole, did not speak English. We booked on a room only basis but chose to have the buffet breakfast in the main restaurant both days. Cost was roughly EUR13 per person and there was an huge choice.
Would definitely go back again for a relaxing, good value, beach break.

“Loved the PlayaLuna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2007

We loved the PlayaLuna, we loved Roquetas De Mar and we loved Almeria. We would definately go back.

The room we had was fantastic - cleaned everyday with fresh towels everyday. We had good kitchenette facilities even though we were half board which was handy considering we had a 4 and 2 year old with us.

The pool was wonderful and clean. No toilets near the pool and no pool bar which was a bit of a downer but the complimentary pool towel service made up for it meaning we didn't have to dry our towels overnight!

The food was great and the hotel was clean, friendly and modern.
