Our party consisted of myself, my husband, our 13 year old autistic son and my mother who is in her eighties.
We arrived in the hotel at around 11 a.m. and were warned by our Thomas Cook Rep. that non of the hotels would have the rooms ready at that time. True enough we had to wait until 2 p.m. but we passed the time sitting by the pool with a cold drink from the bar.
When we got our rooms they were up graded to Junior Suites and were very, very nice. Spacious and with the bath in the room, not partitioned off as previously mentioned. This is a bit unusual really, especially if you're sharing with a friend because there's no privacy (although the toilet at least is separate). As it happens, we didn't mind this at all and really liked the rooms.
All the staff spoke a bit of English, and were all exceptionally helpful and polite - the waiting staff in the buffet were particularly warm and friendly.
The food at breakfast was varied and cooked well and we always found it to be hot. The evening buffet was lovely, there was always lots of choice and althoug there were some things that we wouldn't eat e.g. rabbit, veal and squid, there was always a roast being carved, grilled salmon or sea bass etc, lamb and pork chops, pasta with sauces, and lots, lots more. My favourite dessert was the crepes which were made to order. We did eat out a couple of nights, just for a change and to see the resort.
The pools at the hotel are wonderful and were never crowded when we went. The bars are good and all public areas were clean and well presented. The shop sells crisps, souvenirs and sweets and you can buy a bottle of whisky for €13.
Roquetas de Mar itself is a lovely resort, very flat and not too big but still with plenty of bars etc. The best thing about it is, of course the weather, 30 degrees plus the last week of September.
We'll be returning to the Mediterraneo Park next year.
