The hotel is very well positioned in the old town, close to coffee shops and other shopping areas. There is plenty to do around Kranj and everything is close by. You would get what you expect from a 3 star hotel. The hotel staff are friendly and help a lot, the rooms are clean and tidy. It is what you need for a city break or business trip.
The down side is no air con so it can get a bit warm in warm months, but aside from that I can't fault it. Will be staying here again.

The obvious weak point of this hotel is the gloomy concrete exterior, which makes it look like it might not be a hotel at all, and the reception area, which again looks very institutional. In fact, the room was very clean and well appointed, and its location is convenient to the historic heart of Kranj. The restaurant space is quite attractive, with scenic river views and a very good breakfast; had I realized it was so nice I could have avoided scouring Kranj for a decent restaurant the night before.

What tips the scale to my not recommending this hotel is the experience I had with airport transportation, which cancelled out the supposed convenience of staying here the last night before my flight. On an initial inquiry the reception said a taxi would cost about 20 euros, and it was even more when I took a taxi the following day. This is for a trip of 7 km, and my Slovenian friends subsequently confirmed that this was out of line with all normal taxi rates. It's hard not to picture the hotel getting part of this overchange in return for calling this particular taxi service.

Apparently there is a public bus from Kranj to the airport. Better yet, the airport's web site indicates that there are a number of hotels and pensions that offer airport shuttles, some of them complimentary. I would urge anyone staying for a last night to go to one of these places rather than the Hotel Creina. You may miss a pleasant couple of hours strolling the center of Kranj, but you won't be ripped off on the ride to the airport.

We stayed here our last night in Slovenia because the city of Kranj is very close to the airport. The city isn't to big and has a nice quaint city center with alot of shops and small bars so its a nice place to visit for a day but other than that you may be scratching your head looking for things to do. Anyways the hotel his very convienently located, however the sign for the hotel is almost impossible to see from the street unless you have binoculars. The rooms are fairly small but are clean and comfortable. We crashed out at about 9pm and awoke at midnight to cars honking their horns, and people outside on the street carrying on until about 5am. We didn't really sleep because of all the noise. It turns out there was a disco bar downstairs and all the kids milled around the parking lot all night. I think this is one of the few hotels in town so if you must stay here on a weekend night make sure your room does not face the street!!

Old exterior, but nice rooms and renovated bathrooms, good service. Directly in the city center - however, there are not many sights to see there. Bus stop directly in front of the hotel and few bars/restaurants+shops available within short walking distance.
