“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

This is what I would like heaven to be like! Simonetta has created a special paradise in Tuscany. This is what we came to Tuscany to find. Her style is evident everywhere, in every corner of the villa. Our guestroom was very comfortably appointed with robes, candles, room scents, fireplace and the bathroom was as large as the bedroom, complete with large jetted tub and sitting area, and oh yes, more candles. The breakfast area is gorgeous, with open air, magnificent views and fabulous food. The touches on the breakfast buffet bar were beautiful and the fresh foods stupendous. The fresh fig marmalades were fabulous, as were the hot breads, meats and cheeses. The grounds, including in-ground swimming pool, hammocks, sitting areas, are gorgeous.

“Charming, romantic farmhouse in Tuscany”

We stayed at La Saracina in the Malvasia suite. Although many of the rooms appears just as spacious (as far as we could see). The unique aspect of this hotel was that it was family owned and operated containing 5 rooms and the owners lived just upstairs. Simonetta and her husband own it I believe. Her sister Gabiela also works here. She was so nice and helpful during our entire stay. What a great family! They also had two friendly boxers, Aflie a puppy and Iza the older brother. They were playful and lovable. My husband and I enjoyed visiting them. There was no traditional front desk or services aside from breakfast in a warm and inviting room. The hotel was charming and quant and the grounds were magnificent. Again the weather wasn’t great and we would have preferred to lay poolside every afternoon, but just spend one day doing so.

Breakfast was good, very light with biscuits, croissants, cereals. The rate included breakfast, which was very nice. They had a wonderful selection of cheese as well. Very common breakfast food in Italy.

We checked out the night before our departure, due to an early Rome flight. Gabriela mentioned that she could make us cappuccino before getting on the road. So thoughtful! We woke up at 6:00am and drove to Rome Airport after our cappuccino.

I would recommend this lovely establishment for honeymooners, romantic getaways, families and more. Its magical and the personal attention sets this apart from everyone else.

“Cute but has a barking dog alarm clock!”

This facility is beautifully done, wonderful setting. However, it was certainly not peaceful in the am when their new puppy would wake us around 6am! We complained and were told it was a small dog they were training....Also, the toilet was located in the very large and lovely bathroom--only separated by a folding screen--not much privacy. Other than these two comments, the relais is very nice and very isolated--no restaurant on premises or within 5 miles.

“Relais La Saracina is Magnificent!”

I totally agree with the above reviews. You will not be disappointed in any way! Note: they have a very friendly dog. The rooms are all beautiful and exceptionally decorated, you can't go wrong with any of the rooms. We were there in the spring so the pool was not opened, but it sure looked inviting. The grounds are great for hiking and exploring. The food for breakfast is delicious and great way to start the day.. the cappucinos are out of this world! Also, buy their olive oil! I wish I'd bought more back with me because it is delicious and makes a great gift. Enjoy!
