Villa Pitiana is a beautiful villa, surrounded by wine fields and olive trees. The rooms are all unique; ours was furnished with cream coloured furniture and a small chandelier while another was more modest in style. The TV:s are way overdue for an upgrade – small, boxy and tired-looking. Our rooms had no air conditioning, but this wasn't really an issue since the temperature dropped at night anyway. The service at the reception was good, with one lady being extremely efficient and nice to us! She helped us with train connections to Florence, wi-fi and printing emails – no problems at all! However, the service in the restaurant and at breakfast was really bad. Everyone did everything and we had to wait forever for our second course. The breakfast was OK at best, but stay away from the old-tasting coffee and order an espresso or cappuccino instead! Also, you have to boil your own eggs – a first for me. The pool was nice, but too deep to be comfortable in and surrounded by a hedge that blocked the fabulous view. If you think of Villa Pitiana as a 2- or 3-star hotel, it's fine, but it is certainly not a 4-star hotel.
