Excellent location, good staff and value. Most rooms appeared to have balconies with lakeside views, we were indeed most fortunate to be given a room located on an upper floor for the best vantage point overlooking the hotel gardens and Lake Garda. I would definately recommend the hotel for the location and view alone. Rooms are also very spacious with large ensuite bathrooms.
The set dinner was excellent value plus the lunchtime snacks at the bar were good. There are free sunbeds provided by the hotel for a relaxing day by the lake..Although we originally booked for only two nights and then extended to three ,my main regret is that we did not stay longer. The hotel is in a very peaceful location just a few minutes walk from Salo. All staff appeared to be friendly and helpful. There is a convenient multistory car park located across the road which charges hotel guests 10 euros for 24 hours.
The resort of Salo which is beautiful without being overrun . An excellent restaurant with covered seating next to the lake is within a few minutes walk of the hotel, however It is adviseable to arrive early in the evening for this or expect to wait some time for a table as very popular.
There were some negatives about the hotel, however I must stress that for approximately £133 per night for a lakeside double Ensuite room including buffet breakfast and given the location, what more could you expect. The hotel is still excellent value.
You get the impession that the hotel is run on a shoestring. Carpets through stairs & corridors look tired, rooms appear to be dated circa 1960/70s when the hotel was built.
The buffet breakfasts have little choice, with no orange juice and rather spicy unsavoury scrambled egg on offer + no bacon, and a toaster that does not work properly. Strangely there were no drinking glasses whatsoever in the room despite having a minibar. Apparently these had to be requested from the bar...... how unusual. In addition, there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room although we have our own travel kettle and tea bags we were able to overcome this. There was room in the minibar to store milk.
To sum up, the hotel provided excellent value for money and a quiet, beautiful lakeside location.I would without doubt stay there again and recommend it to anyone.
Room Tip: Rooms on upper floors have the best views.Take your own kettle, cups and tea/coffee .
