My wife booked us into this hotel as we were attending a wedding at the other hotel in town and there was no room available there. As other reviewers have suggested it does not look much from the outside but the interior is modern and comfortable. Because it's a small country hotel the reception is often unattended and you ring the bell for service. This is fine except that the receptionist who appeared complete with coat and handbag told me to look for another member of staff as she was 'off home'. This did not bode well however the lady that did check me in was just that 'A Lady', she was helpful, friendly, courteous and looked after myself and my wife for the rest of the evening. Room was clean and comfortable overlooking the main street with no noise problems. We had some drinks in a local pub down the street and dinner back at the hotel. The dining room was busy and we took this as a good omen and indeed the food although not adventurous was tasty and ample. Service was a little slow but this was more to do with the shortage of staff than their tardiness as the waitresses performed with what can only be described as military efficiency. Overall a very enjoyable stay but be warned there is no passenger lift!!!!!
