This resort looks like a place "in the middle of nowhere", so do not forget to bring your bicycles! It´s a flat area around with almost no cars in the streets and you can easily reach very nice "points of interests" within 25km.
Our trips on bicycles:
1.from the Hotel to Lenti (the nearest city with exchange office, where you get official rates with no risk)
2.from the Hotel to BAJÁNSENYE (village with a very good restaurant called Berek halászkert, you can sit outside by their private lake and enjoy domestic hungarian kitchen)
3.from the Hotel to Felsoszenterzsébet (small village with BioFarm, where you can try and buy homemade goat´s cheese or any kind of meat,etc.)
4.from the Hotel to Moravske Toplice /Slovenia/ (city with thermal spa and big Aquapark, lots of people, but very crazy tobogans included), also longest golf resort in Slovenia available.
5.from the Hotel to Slovenia (this hotel is on the border with Slovenia and on the same way to Moravske Toplice we found lots of "wine-routes", where you can try and buy slovenian wine, the one we recommend is behind small village Filovci and the name of the route is "Trnavsky breg", own by Franc Puhan, nice place to eat and drink Modry Pinot!
6.from the Hotel to Márokfold (nearest village to the resort, where you can find "Energypark" - good place for people who likes mysthical/spiritual places, believe in energies,etc.). People who don´t believe can try archery at the same place.

Abbázia country club is great for horse-riding. The lessons are given by professionals Christine and Gábor. Both are kind and patient. You can easily communicate in english, german, french, hungarian. They have well kept and smart horses.

This area is also great for fishing. I recommend the fishing resort in Lenti (we mentioned the city already), you can reach it either on bicycle or by car. The price for day licence is 1500HUF/6EURO and all you just need is your own equipment. This resort is great fishing environment with snack bar. The other such as Csesztreg or Bulsosard are nice too, but much more complicated to get the licence, you have to register too and you pay much more at the end).

Abbázia country resort has own swimming pool outside, which is clean and great refreshment in the summer.
It also has wellness (sauna and whirpool), whirpool is often full and we think they put too much chlorine in it. Sauna was good only on second level, close to the heating place, because they had sort of of ventilation under the door. In our opinion this ventilation is too strong and let too much air go in, which makes the sauna colder.

The resort has restaurant, but unfortunately we haven´t managed to try it for two reasons: we used kitchen in our room and tried restaurants in surrounded area.
At 8am every morning there is a bakery delivery, you can buy fresh bread, cakes, etc.
We could also buy fruits/vegetables in front of our hotel.

Tennis, table tennis,badminton or fireplace is available at the hotel.
It´s no problem to speak in english with the staff at the hotel, but outside people understands much better german.
You can pay by card at the reception, not at the hotel restaurant though. For surrounding area its much better to have cash ready (forints) or Euro in Slovenia.

We find and travelled through RCI to this resort and have no problem.

I took my dad here on vacation in the summer of 2010. Having never been to central Europe, we stayed in Budapest first, rented a car and drove to the country club. I will say that going to the country club was part of an RCI trip that I had ( A worldwide resort exchange) and normally I would have stayed closer to a major city. I found that there were very limited English speakers in the countryside which for me is part of the fun and challenge of travel, but my dad did not enjoy that at all. I had phoned first AND emailed before to get a room with a double bed, and after getting our key, we were shown a room with one bed. After some mime action, they located Christine, a manager of some sort, and she explained that all they had was a small cot. I took the cot and it was made for a child. My feet hung over the edge and sometime during the night, the cot collapsed inward, so I had to drag the mattress off and sleep on the floor for five days. The restaurant is overpriced for the area, and the food was average. The rooms do not have air conditioning, or fans although it was not too hot . You will not be able to do anything without a car. The "gym" looked like the exercise machines were from a 1950's gym, and they sounded like it also . The horses looked well kept and healthy, but the staff was quite unfriendly when asking about riding. That was a big turn off. I was able to meet up with a local teacher, who wanted to practice her English ( which was excellent) and she became our guide for the next few days, and we had some wonderful day trips, venturing into Slovenia and Austria. We did check out a day early to head back to Budapest, which is a city I totally enjoyed, and would visit again in a heartbeat. I say, visit Hungary, but avoid this resort.

Nice enough resort in a very rural location amid rather flat & uninspiring countryside.
Just on the Slovenian border, with Austria & Croatia easily accessible, there are many places to visit, especially if you are prepared to drive a distance.
Locally you can visit the National Park of Orseg.
Further afield the spa town of Heviz is a must, with its thermal lake (the largest biochemical peat-based lake in the world, it boasts). Water temperature is 30C, so it's very relaxing.
Beyond is Europe's largest lake, Balaton (about 50 miles drive). It seemed the summer season was well & truly over, with practically everything closed (at least during the week). From the natural beauty & size of the lake, it was obviously a popular place for tourists earlier in the year.
Would not wish to generalise, but our experiences of most Hungarians we met were of a people not overly friendly (despite our attempts to converse in their native tongue). Even the more accommodating, who would acknowledge your presence, did so without smiling.
In contrast, both the Slovenians & Croations were, in our limited exposure to them, happy & welcolming.
Trips to both capital cities (Ljlubljana & Zagreb), though some distance, were very rewarding. The former was particularly beautiful, being full of character.
We even drove the 3 hours to the Adriatic coast at Trieste. Unfortunately the weather was not kind & due to the rain, we departed after enjoying a pleasant lunch in an outside restaurant (before it started to drizzle).
Hungary is a less expensive place than "Euroland" & although not wishing to criticise the resort restaurant, where the food was of a good standard, travelling 20 minutes to a neighbouring town, we found a place called "Gimti" in Magyarszombatfa. Excellent food from a wide menu was very good value.
