“Nice hotel.”

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We went to Mykonos first, so we weren't sure what to expect in Santorini. Someone picked us up from the port when we arrived in Santorini, which was great! Our room was very spacious. When we walked to the beach, we were a little disappointed... There were little prickly things in the sand... So then when we were looking for things to do, there was pretty much nothing to do. There are two restaurants and one supermarket near the hotel. If you want to go see other sights, you need to rent a car, which the hotel can help you get, or you can take the transportation they provide every two hours back and forth.
All in all, the hotel staff is very very helpful and it is a great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere quiet.

“lovely hotel in ideal location.”

stayed at the lovely scorpios hotel in september as we were on santorini to celebrate our daughters wedding.we choose this part of the island as we both have back related problems and monolithos is fairly flat.although we were very close to the airport this was no problem, it was nice seeing planes in the air so close.we were met on our arrival by the lovely suusanna and our cases were carried to our rooms.we had a lovely room which was very clean and nicely decorated.lots of room for our belongings and a small kitchen area.in fact after the !st morning we made our own breakfast and relaxed on the balcony.it was perfect in the morning sunshine.although there seemed to be quite a few people staying at the scorpios it was so peacefull.sometimes we spent a little time around the pool reading or having a beer or we went over to the beach to use the sunbeds.there were only about 10 but that side of the beach is very quiet.we didnt have a main meal at the hotel but from what we saw and was told the portions were very generous and good.we used the hotel taxi to go into kamari and only paid a few pounds.this runs every couple of hours which is very handy.susanna always seemed to be around the hotel and gave us quite a bit of information as were to visit.the boys around the pool bar were friendly and eager to serve.also thanks to the lovely cleaning ladies we had clean towels every day even though we didnt really need them.we would recommend this hotel as a place to get away from it all but near enough to get into kamari for the day or evening.while there we also took a boat trip around the island amazing..on leaving we spoke to susanna about returning next year and she gave us her mobile number and email address so we may be able to get a deal and a flight at a better rate than a package fingers crossed.....one tip the little shop along the road is expensive so if you can find a supurmarket and stock up.the fridge in our room was plenty big enough to hold everything including the wine....

“Excellent hotel and nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

On arrival the welcome was very friendly and very efficient. The hotel is very close to the airport and very easy to find as we hired a car.

The plane noise is loud near the hotel, but when we went in September, there were not too many flights and it does not bother me. The only bug bear is an early 6am flight one morning and a late 2300 flight one night.

Big plus on this hotel is that a saftey deposit box in the room and aircon come as standard and not charged extra.

Pool is small, but ok for cooling down. Nice plus is that they have inflatables and toys for the kids.

The hotel section on the beach is small and basic, but a nice touch. Only issue with Monolithos beach is it can be a bit windy.

We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment, but be warned, the kicthen equipment is fairly basic, with a few items to cook with, a double electric hob and fridge/sink combo.

It would have been nice to have a toaster and a microwave, which I have had elsewhere self catering.

Apartments however are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of hot water.

All in all a nice value hotel in a nice secluded location.

Only tip, if you are staying in Monolithos, you really need a car to get around as it is only small and quite quiet.

“Great Hotel/Apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Firstly this review should reflect the quality and service of the hotel. If you want somewhere that is quiet (out of town) and restful (apart from some noise - see below) with great attentive staff, good sized apartments and a good cleaning service then this is the place for you. Take beach towels and tea towels/dish cloths as they do not provide these. The kitchen was basic but had 2 electric rings, electric kettle, a few pots and pans and cutlery. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes car ride from the airport and is right next to a Power Station. This sounds although it could ruin your holiday but apart from some noise from both the aircraft and the power station it wasn't too bad.

The hotel is situated right opposite a beach which is o.k. for sun bathing and swimming if you are agile as the beach shelves quite steeply. As a guest of the hotel you have free use of the sunbeds on this part of the beach but be warned, there are only a few of them. if you go to the beach to the right of the sea breakers this one is much better for swimming. It can however cost 5 euros a day for the hire of the sunbeds and parassols.

There are 2 restaurants to the left of the hotel as you look at it. We ate in both and found the food good in both of them. If you have a budget of around 30/40 euros for evening meals for 2 you can eat and drink well. Beer is quite expensive but there is a little supermarket right by the hotel and you can buy beer and wine for your room there which is much cheaper.

It is approx. 1 hour from it's nearest town (Kamira). We are keen walkers and went along the beach to Kamira and also along the road. The road (although there is traffic) is much easier but if you don't mind stopping every few minutes to empty pebbles out of you shoes you can go right along the beach from the hotel to Kamira. At Kamira there are a number of Restaurants and bars and you can sit on the promenade and have a beer whilst looking over the ocean.

We hired a car for 3 days and did the whole island which included going to Thira to watch the sunset. Very nice but I live on a mountain and have spectacular sunrises and sunsets so was not as impressed as some people were although it was still worth going to see the town and the views of the harbour and all the cruise liners. It was much cheaper hiring the car than going on the tours. It cost us 60 euros for 3 days hire with 5 euros per day for fully comp insurance. Oia was worth a visit too but be warned wear good walking shoes. The bus service on the island is quite good (about 1.60 euro for a single trip from the hotel to Thira) but I found the timetable quite confusing. Also the last bus back from Thira is usually full so be warned and plan your journey accordingly.

Overall it was a lovely holiday and well worth the visit. On reflection it would have been better to be nearer the village/town but the hotel staff made the holiday very enjoyable and I would recommend the hotel but maybe not were it is situated. Hope this helps.
p.s. weather was great the first week but started to change the second week(still not bad though). We went 13th September to 27th.

“Nice self catering acommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Nice self catering acommodation. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean and you could come and go as you please. The kitchen was very basic and they don't give you any washing up liquid or sponge so be prepared to take some with you or buy some when you get there. The hotel is across the road from the beach which is great, however there is only one corner shop nearby which is a bit pricey - I would recommend hiring a car and driving to Kamari or Thira for any provisions (it is also a great way to see the island)! You might get distracted by the airplanes overheard as the airport isn't that far away, but you would also experience this if you stayed in Kamari.
