“Exellent Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Exellent hotel, very close to the airport but no problems with noise from the planes because the hotel lies in a quadrant like a small Greek village.
Big pool and many small ones + 5 jacuzzi's spread over the hotel. All-Inn was taken in Mediterannean Beach, very close to our hotel en very friendly. Buffets were not very big but always enough variaty and good quality for the price we paid.
There was a hotelbus to Fira and Kamira, very easy and always on time 4 eur p.p.
Renting a car in the hotel was easy and much cheaper than with travel-agency and with a choice of insurance.

Room Tip: First floor has a beautiful vieuw over the sea and the surrounding area

“Not what I expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

When I arrived here I called ahead from the ferry on the way to Santirini in order to see what the best way was to get to the hotel from the Port. They confirmed my reservation and suggested I get a taxi when I get to the Thira Port. Upon our ferry's arrival there were no taxis and a surplus of people looking for them. I had wished that the hotel may have alerted me to this fact, as we had to sit at a cafe and try and sort something from there. We then called the hotel again, which denied us having a reservation and hung up, despite me calling a few hours before and them confirming. Finally sorted, they sent a taxi 20 minutes later, it ended up costing us 30 euro, which seemed to be a lot more than the tour book indicated as avg. I'm not sure if this is because the hotel sent us a more expensive taxi, or because it really was in the middle of nowhere. And I must be emphatic on this, it is not close to any of the sights, and it has NOTHING around it. I was hoping to have one local pub or something for a night cap but you are limited to the hotel. Which is okay, but upon asking for vinsanto which is a delicious island wine that is served everywhere, they were completely out, and then asked for a tia maria and they were out of that too.
After checking in the hotel tried to sell us on a sponsored tour they offered, so we signed up for a full day volcano-island-sunset type tour on their suggestion. I noticed the tour description it referenced hot springs and asked if I needed a bathing suit etc. The hotel manager said I only needed good shoes for the volcano hiking. Well, not only was the tour really poorly organized (overcrowded, more time loading on and off the boat than enjoying sights), but there was an opportunity to swim, and thanks to the hotel we were found without bathing suits and towels, my boyfriend and I were the only few not able to partake even though we had specifically asked the hotel about it. In addition, the food was really gross buffet-style for the people who got food plans. Since we didn't get one, we were given the option of eating either "a la carte" or the buffet that all the food plan people were on. We took one look and it was the least appetizing buffet I had seen. The only reason we ate at that restaurant at all is because it was the first night we were there, and the next closest restaurant was a 25 min walk down a major road (not safe for walking). I just think for what I paid that there wasn't the value that I expected at this hotel. The room was okay, but the door to the balcony was at about 5'6", and both of us being over that height, we had to duck down to get out and often hit our heads. Our spare key didn't work either and they had no replacement. Plus they are stingy on pool towels, they only give you one for the whole holiday, and if you exchange it in for a clean one you have to pay to get a fresh one back. Just overall kind of nickel and dime and not the relaxing hotel I intended.

“We loved it and was sad to leave!!”

Myself and my partner stayed at The Mediterranean Royal from 21st - 28th June 2011, all inclusive and had a fantastic time! The hotel was lovely, rooms were cleaned and bed sheets changed every day. We had a fresh bottle of water left outside our room every morning which we did not expect and thought was a nice touch. We loved having our own jacuzzi's outside our room too :).

The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. By the time we left we realised we made some good friends. Angel and Christian who worked behind the pool bar are great at their jobs! Our glasses were never empty, the fact that we never left the pool bar prob had a little something to do with it as we enjoyed chatting to the guys so much!

We went to Santorini for our friends wedding which was AMAZING! They got married at Santo Winery where the views are out of this world! They had their reception just up the road where we watched the sun set as the best men and groom said their speeches.

We went out in Thira and Kamari on a couple of nights. Thira is very busy with lots of shops! Kamari was slightly more chilled with some lovely restaurants and good bars. Sky Lounge Bar was very nice, looks posh but drinks are fairly cheap and were giving out free shots! Ethnic Bar was also very good with live singers, although be careful with the table service when it's busy as they bring you over receipts and we found their were some extra drinks on them, best going to the bar and being patient. Taxi's to and from diff parts of the island start from £10 but the bus service from the hotel starts from £4, however the last bus time is around 8pm returning from Thira.

Overall we had such a good time and the fact that we spent most of our time at our hotel as we were all inclusive was not a problem at all as it was such a nice stay. We would love to return to the island and the hotel and would def recommend to friends to stay here :)

“We loved it !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

We loved this hotel as it had everything we could have wanted, a lovely pool, a private part of the beach. Our room was comfortable with a beautiful balcony. The breakfast was yummy, and the staff very welcoming and helpful. We loved the hotel pool side party with Billy Brown! I am confident we will be back!
