Our first Greek Island holiday and we were advised by those in the know that Santorini was a great place to visit. We found this place on the net and took a punt on it. Rooms and fittings etc are simple but very clean and are air conditioned. If you book a room / apartment with more than one room you won't get any privacy as the rooms are open plan gallery style. The location is not stunning but there are beaches (black sand) within a couple of miles and Thira the lively island Capital is an half a hour walk.
Breakfast are again simple but wholesome and taken in a relaxing way by the pool. There is a bar open from about 11 am to 7pm by the pool. There are several restaurants nearby the best by a mile is called Skaramagos the owner has his own fishing boat and the fish is very fresh. Try also the Fava.
The island itself is dominated by the magnificent caldera you will enjoy the famous sunsets but be warned you will pay heavily for the privilege in any of the the teeming bars and restaurants on the caldera edge. I have travelled a lot to most corners of the world but never, ever, ever have I been stitched up as I was in one restaurant!!
