I stayed here in the summer of 2011 with a few of my friends. We arrived at the apartments quite late at night, where we were met by the "barman" who informed us that all the rooms were full and that we would have to stay at another hotel a few minutes drive away (we had booked the rooms in the winter of 2010 so this was a shock that all rooms were full!!!!!). We were pretty tired so agreed, a taxi was called and the barman said that the Dias hotel would pay the taxi fair (which they didn't, and we had an argument with the taxi driver regarding this.)

The following morning at midday Maria came to collect us from the other hotel and drove us back to the Dias apartments. Once here she said that our room would not be ready for another 2 hours or so but that as the previous customers had checked out we could leave our bags in the room and the maid would clean around our belongings. We agreed to this and our room was cleaned to an acceptable standard. We had clean towels, fresh bedding, nice pool area etc. Maria had said that as a "sorry for the problems" we could have the air conditioning at a reduced daily price, however when my friend went to pay for this, we received no discount at all.

As the holiday went on we noticed that we had lots of bites on our legs and one of my friends found fleas in the bed. Our beds were cleaned every other day but we still found them. As this was the end of the trip we didn't say anything and just wanted to be out of the room. The internet was also very slow and did not appear to be wifi as was advertised, there was a charge for every 15 minutes or so that was used.

On a positive note, on the last day we had to check out at 10am, but our flight was not until late that evening and we wanted to swim during the day. Maria allowed us to use a spare room for 30 minutes to shower and prepare for our flight home at the end of the day, this was all free of charge.

We were just surprised at the standards as this is supposed to be a 4* hotel. Would look into other hotels, there were some stunning looking 5* hotels closer to town.

The Dias Hotel was great a great place to stay in Crete that can’t be faltered . We stayed a week in mid-October and had a great time. The hotel had; clean rooms and bathrooms with balconies, very clean pool with luxurious loungers, a spectacularly decorated lobby/lounge area with free wireless, warm and welcoming staff, hot showers, soft beds and hot food available most of the day.

Being a young couple we can’t live without the internet so Dias was a chosen primarily for the free wireless however we got so much more. You can get wireless around the reception area and also by the pool if close enough, if you want it in your room then request to have a room directly next to or above the reception. Maria, the owner or manager, was very helpful – her English is fantastic and despite being notable busy throughout the day she always had time for any need or enquiry. Niko, the barman/handyman, couldn’t do enough – his English is not as good as Maria’s but he makes up for it with his charm and friendliness! Our self-catering room was perfect, a large studio with balcony overlooking the pool and sea, all the cooking equipment needed and the room was immaculately clean. Even when we had a touch of rain there was enough to entertain us with internet use, TV in our room, a sheltered room balcony, books in reception and food/drink bar.

The hotel is in a great location just 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and start of Stalis’ main street. We loved this location as it was far enough away to feel peaceful and secluded but so easy to stroll into the busy areas.

Stayed at the Dias with my boyfriend is September 2011. On checking in it was the early hours of the morning and was shown to a room that was on the front of the apartments and to be fair the sound of the traffic did wake us which was frustrating as we had been travelling most of the day before. However int he morning we brought this to the attention of Maria who showed us to another room immediately overlooking the pool and sea and the mountain backdrop.

The apartment itself was clean and very spacious as there was an upstairs and downstairs and it was lovely to be able to sit out on the balcony and take in the scenery over a cup of coffee in the morning.

Maria was extremely helpful and the other staff were also very pleasant at all times. The loacation was excellent being close to the beach, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops but far enough away to still be peaceful.

If my boyfriend and I were to return to Crete the apartments would be a definite possibility as it was such a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in an apartment with fab views of the sea and a stunning mountain back drop.
We were only located there at the last minute as the resort apart in Hersonnissos would be closing for the season half way thro' our stay.
Maria the receptionist was very helpful and efficient, accommodating us in such a delightful apartment at such short notice.
When we experienced a power cut late on Saturday evening Maria pulled out all the stops finding an electrician to fix the problem and preventing having to re-locate us in a basement apartment with no views and a lack of natural light.
We enjoyed the Stalis beach front and numerous bars and restaurants and were dreading our return to the UK.
As we were located in Stalis at the last minute we were not on the resort-hoppa list for transfer to the airport but Maria saved the day by chasing it up and not taking no for an answer eventually securing our transfer to the airport.
I can thoroughly recommend the Dias apartments for couples or families with young children as its clean and the staff very helpful.
