Spent 2 weeks at this ski resort. Eurogroup gave us an excellent deal so cannot really complain (too much) as at the end of the day you get what you pay for. We booked a 3 bedroom duplex apartment & requested a quiet room as we were travelling with our daughter who was 9 months at the time. They accomodated our requests perfectly and the reception staff were very friendly & helpful. The resort is situated at 1800 meters so guaranteed good snow, ski lift and baby run in front of complex. These were brand new apartments that had only been open 3 months so we guessed it would be in pretty good condition. The room we had was clean & well maintained (everything worked - dishwasher, microwave/oven & hob) but the decor seemed tired already which was very suprising - to us it seemed like it needed totally redecorating! Maybe their previous guests had not been respectful during its 3 months of business. Les Orres 1800 was still under development while we were there, so car parks became mud baths when the sun shone and melted the snow (even worse if it rained). It was about a 5 min drive down to the village or you could walk and enjoy the beautiful french alpes, but once in the village if you had a pram with you it was a nightmare, as you had to climb steps to get anywhere & everywhere!, which was fine when my husband was with me, but meant i could never walk down there with my daughter on my own while my husband skied, so there wasnt much to keep us happily occupied.
The only big gripe i had was they advertised having an onsite laundry room on their website, which was the one and only reason why we choose this complex above others, as when you have a young baby you need a laundry room! I even telephoned Eurogroup head office to speak with someone directly to confirm this laundry room existed too. But suprise suprise when i arrived i was told there was no laundry room, they said they hadnt had time to complete it for when the ski season started and they didnt want to be building it while residents were there. So part of our stay was badly interupted with visits to the laundrette down in the village every 3rd day, which took over 2 hours at a time while trying to keep a 9month old entertained at same time - not fun!! I complained to Eurogroup H/O and they sent me a 50 euro voucher to be spent on any other eurogroup bookings in the future.... the voucher hasnt been used and has probably expired by now!
We dont have any really bad memories of this holiday and like i mentioned previously they did accomodate all our requests, and the reception staff were very helpful and so friendly ,especially a girl named 'Helene', she was without a doubt the best receptionist Eurogroup have and it was only because of her that everything else ran smoothly during our stay. The skiing at this resort is very good and has some extremely challenging runs - according to my husband who thrives on skiing down all the hardest runs in the many french resorts we have visited.
I would recommend this for a family ski hol whos trying to save as much as you can, as we all know how expensive ski hols are once youve paid out for ski passes and everything else! There was a lot of development underway as we were leaving so i guess there will be more shops etc there now, so maybe 1800 will be a little better than it was during our stay?
