“A truly expected pleasure”

We actually had a confirmed booking with Venere to stay at the nearby Chateua de Brou in Noyant de Touraine. When we arived there was no room for us and a blame game commenced with the hotel blaming the agency etc. Thankfully the hotel managed to get us a room (it was a bank holiday with Parisienes down in droves) in the nearby Les Molieres in Trogues which we reluctantly accepted. When you book a Chateau you only very reluctantly settle for a B&B, especially one at e170 a night, e20 more than the chateau. While we didn't get the opportunity to compare the rooms, I can't imagine the one we missed out on being a patch on the suite we ended up in at Les Molieres. (I am reliably informed that they have cheaper rooms available for earlier bookers.) The suite was fabulous, spacious, modern and beautifully decorated to satisfy the most discerning taste. While it was the wrong time of year to swim, it opened up onto the gardens and pool. The en suite had a double sink and large walk-in shower. We dined in (dinner is served in a large open plan lounge/dining room) and after a couple of glasses of champagne and a fine meal cooked and served by the family we had forgotten the earlier stresses of the day. The bed was fabulously comfortable and a hearty continental breakfast (sounds like an oxymoron but it was excellent and plentiful) sent us off in good spirits.

“lovely room , shocking service and at a hell of a price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

Very expensive for what is a bed and breakfast and breakfast that is charged on top of the room rate and was served with mouldy fruit.
Also if you don't like cats or dogs I would avoid this and if you like polite service give it a miss. The first two mornings we got hardly a word as breakfast was put down ,then on the last day they appeared to be completely different people and were a bit more civilised.
This could be so nice if the service was better and it was closer to somewhere to eat in the evenings as it is fairly out there in the middle of nowhere

We stayed in the 'Ethnic' room - lovely decor, great bed and spacious bathroom.
Beautiful building and surrounding garden. Wish we had more time to spend here.

“I Love Les Molieres”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2007

I first stayed at Les Molieres, which is just outside Trogues a small village on the edge of the Loire Valley,
in December 2005. It is a charming old French mansion and the co-owners have completely renovated the house. The décor is absolutely exquisite. Every room is themed in a different way and everything is chosen with great care, the carpets, the sculpture, the paintings. Each has its own bathroom with huge fluffy bathrobes. Your stay comes with breakfast, however the REAL treat is if you are able to take advantage of their dinner package. It is well worth the stay. The meals are cooked by one of the owners who is a chef and the food is magnificent. For each course, a wine from the area is chosen and everything and I mean everything is cooked by the chef for you. The owners are delightful company, I would recommend inviting them for an after dinner drink with you. There is a huge fireplace and some very friendly dogs and one of the largest cats I have ever seen.
It would be a great place to stay if you are thinking of exploring the Chateaux of the Loire, rent a car and go out every day, come back for a quick swim in the pool and then have Stephan (the chef) cook you something marvellous. Chartres is near by, not to be missed and the countryside in this area is quite lovely. Try to avoid August, everyone is on vacation at that time.
The cost is very reasonable between 100 and 140 euros per night depending on which room you choose, it includes breakfast. The last time I was there dinner was 40 euros per person and great value.
It is without doubt the best overnight stay I have ever had in any country. If you want to explore rural France it’s a great place to have as your base.
