“wonderful experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

visited hotel Horizont in late September with half board. Service is excellent, especially the waiters and waitresses who went out their way to make sure that you had a stress-free and relaxing holiday. The food is good, a wide selection of different incidents from different cultures and a section of different cakes and desserts for after. Breakfast was abit bland and boring, the same stuff every day. One of our last nights, there was a wedding reception being held at the hotel; which meant that we got moved from the main dining room - to a small conference room. Because of this there was a poor selection of food for dinner and most of this was cold as there was no way of keeping the food hot. The service was also terrible because of only having 2 waitresses to cater for atleast 50 people at any one time. The wedding reception also took over the entire lobby of the hotel which meant getting in and out was incredibly awkward. The rooms are standard, although the mattresses are rock hard and the pillows gave no support - so unless you like that, you won't get a decent nights sleep! You have a free safe in the hotel room, although we couldn't get ours to work so just used the suitcase and padlocked valuables inside it. The pools are amazing within the hotel, especially indoors which includes water-jets and jacuzzi baths. Baska Voda is beautiful, around a 2hour drive from Split airport, although as we went at the end of September, everything closed down, including the hotel which closes a week after we left. There is a lovely beach bar opposite the hotel, which we spent most of our evenings. One of the best things about this hotel is the proximity of the hotel to the beach! The beach is pebbly so shoes are needed when going in the sea. These can be brought from all of the beach shops around Baska Voda and are fairly priced. I would recommend Horizont and Baska Voda.

“wonderful spa world”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

Hotel on everything is an average 4 star seaside hotel in Croatia; a lot of thing not so 4 star. Service is OK, stuff there a bit on the relax side, which I like, and food so-so; don't expect much, and you might get pleasantly surprised, generally in average. Baska voda is beatyfull, I love the beaches, and the town has a lot of charm, especially if you combine it with Makarska for a night life.
Best for the end, THIS HOTEL HAS THE BEST SPA WORLD I'VE EVER VISITED, and I've seen them most in the region, It is wonderfully designed and maintained, very clean and imaginative, really great place for relaxation

“Not bad for a package deal hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

Southern Croatia does not have a vast selection of top quality hotels. We stayed in the Imperial in Dubrovnik (5 star and excellent) the Park in Hvar (great boutique hotel) and wanted something reasonable for a couple of nights before flying out of Split The Meridien in Lav was full, and when we drove past it we were delighted we were not staying there as it is in a depressing and overdeveloped strip of coast.Maybe the casino is its main attraction? So the Horizont seemed the next best and we reserved it from Hvar. It looks like a communist period hotel, upgraded , modernised and now Russian owned. Was told high season guests mostly Russian, in early September mostly German, mostly package deal. A superior room with an attractive sea view was €180 for dinner B&B for two The room, with decent bath, was fine. The pool/fitness etc excellent. Breakfast not bad. Dinner OK but as the restaurant is still communist looking and lacks charm we went out the second night and had an excelllent fish dinner 100 yards away. I think in Croatia you usually get what you pay for and this place is priced fairly. However, I would not want the be in Baska Voda in high season. The resort is simply too small for the crowds if all the rooms/apartments are let out and the beach nothing to compare with the islands.

“Best choice at Baska Voda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

We stayed with my wife at Baska Voda 8 nights, in hotel Horizont, with HB. Becauce we visited really a great part of Croatian Adriatic hotels, we can note that Hotel Horizont is one of the best. Especially restaurant with excellent chefcook is a dominant attraction of hotel. In summer months has restaurant problems with profesional waiter, but dishes from Master Cook were very delicious and on festive evening with croatiam music also very valuable. The accomodation part of hotel has very solid 3*** standard of German hotels, 4th * is probably for nice water world with 2 swimming pools indoor and outdoor. Other problems: parking - special area for prominent ?, details in bathroom and very expensive transfer to airport, when is not managed by travel agency. Hotel Horizont is very clean and is a good alternative for your stay at Adriatic.

“Stunning beauty and average service”

The hotel Horizont is located in one of the most picturesque places of Croatia - Makarska Riviera (the town of Baska Voda). The beaches there are considered to be one of the best in Croatia. The town is small, safe, good for holidays with small children, but the beaches are crowded and the seafloor is made of stones and pieces of rock, so it is not very easy to get in and out of the sea.
The hotel itself is quite comfortable, with good SPA, the indoor pool and jakuzzi. The rooms are well-eqiupped but rather small. The food is of reasonable quality, nothing outstanding about it, but I do wish they would offer a wider choice of fruit at the height of the season. The stuff are polite, but when we asked for the permission to stay a few hours longer for extra payment they turned us down, saying they are fully booked. Taking into account the fact that we had to wait for 6 hours at the airport for our flight to take off, we would have preferred to spend three more hours in the hotel room rather than in the lobby. So it doesn't seem to be a very guest-friendly hotel.
