“We liked it very much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

It was an early booking, so we expected some sort of shortage. It was, but nothing related to the hotel or boarding.

We stayed 10 nights in a studio on the 7th floor, with a view to a river, quite spacious, comfortable and kept clean, towels changed every day.

The food was good, various dishes for the first two courses - including freshly fried pork, veal, chicken, fish, chips - friendly service at the restaurant - they came to know us and were greeted and smiled at - but even so, for everybody the used plates and dishes were quickly removed. The dessert was not so wide in choice, there were little cream cakes, pancakes. As for fruit we had melon, peaches, apples, grapes, once a fruit salad.

The shortage comes from the river - more like a lake - which lies next to the hotel, that is sometimes smelly, with mosquitoes and needs to be avoided - taking a detour on the way to the sea. There were two days when the sea was flowed in the river and needed to be crossed bare feet. Otherwise it took 5-7 minutes to get to the sea. Another inconvenience is that the sea shore is very steep, the sea gets deep only 5- 7 meters away from the shore and at rough sea bathing is forbidden - had 3 days like that. If the shore sloped gently into the sea we wouldn't have had this problem. There are parts of the shore in Obzor with this positive aspect, but you need to walk 15-20 min. We love the sea and our idea of having a holiday at the seaside is not to lie in the sun at the hotel's swimming pool - which is nice, but crowded, not enough sundecks and cold in the morning.

Obzor is a quiet, yet full of tourists village, with cheap goods and meals to eat out. We liked the fact that every corner is turned into a nice view or a place to relax and entertain.
We went to Tania - a bistro in the center of Obzor, read about it on this site - and we had delicious pizza- baked on the spot - and more than friendly service, without ordering the waiter brought us some sort of spice to go with the pizza, something traditional Bulgarian, very good and weren't charged for it. Amazing!

Room Tip: The hotel is quite new, so the rooms are o.k. The sunnier ones are those with a view to Obzor, but t...

“Had a good time, maybe we'll return”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

A stormy weather upon arrival made us find a hotel with no electricity, so we had to wait with the check-in until the housekeeping made came with the spare key, as they couldn't make our magnetic key... The room already had the baby crib set-up and we appreciated this, at no extra-cost. The room is very spacious, and clean, plenty of towels, and we got more when we asked for them (directly at the housekeeping lady).
Loved the restaurant's captain, a very nice young lady always there and smiling and helpful. Very good food, always you had what to chose from and plenty to feed everybody.
Didn't like the cold water in the swimming pools, the small reception area, as in the night it was overcrowded... The beach was like a 5 minute walk, but not very nice right there, we walked further, about 10-15 minutes and it was nice. We enjoyed some really nice waves (after a storm), but generally nice sand and nice sea... Loved it!!!
Got some really heavy rains for June weather, and since there is no indoor swimming pool it was sometimes pretty hard for the children and us to find things to do in the hotel... probably next time we'll go to a hotel with indoor swimming pools option.

“We did like it a lot”

Good hotel, nice architecture, close to a very quiet beach area. Large rooms, good cleaning (towels were changed every day, lining every two days). Plenty of good quality food, local drinks, pool bar with snacks.

They have a Spa with interesting procedures. Mini-disco every evening (I was traveling with a child). Children pool next to the main pool.

Staff was friendly and we obtained a very good price no matter that we addressed our self directly to the Front Office. I easily find a parking place inside the hotel yard.

Cartoon channels on TV (that is the most I am interested on a TV).

From the hotel to the town center it is just a 10 minutes walk.

Room Tip: Huge luxury apartments, great balcony, sea view

“we had a terrible holiday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

It was not the holiday we had hoped it would be. The rooms were ok, but the extra bed we had in the room was not good for older children, it was much too small. The staff was very grumpy, did not try to understand you (we are Dutch and tried to speak English and German), could not laugh. The food was not very spectacular, most of the time we had to wait for about 10 minutes to get a drink (only one bar and barman). The restaurant was too small for the hotel, not enough tables for all the guests, the lobby was too small, and only a pooltable for recreation. No real animation, folding planes from paper and sometimes for 10 minutes or so a game in the pool, or a game of football.

“Absolutely satisfied”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

We were in Casablanca hotel in the same time as previous reviewer from Plovdiv (that means in the final decade of July 2010 with storms and electricity black-out), but surprisingly, we have rather different opinion. According us, personal was friendly, managing the black-out chaos (all region northwards of Burgas was 30 hours without electricity) rather profesionally. Hotel has its own diesel generator, so the lack of warm water nad no lights in room in the evening were the only problems. As I understood, there were hotels and pensions without any water (and food) at all.
Food was excellent and plentiful (even for vegetarians) as same as beverages (three kinds of juices, three lemonades, water and soda), tea and cofees (prepared in coffee machines) and local beer of Pirinsko. In difference, we do not like their local wine. There was big offer of mixed drinks, but expect higher than usual proportion of spirits to beverages (for example tequila sunrise was more tequila than sunrise).
During our stay (we purchased all inclusive service), there were breakfest from 7.30 to 10.00, lunch from 12:30 to 14:30 and dinner from 18:30 to 21:00 ala buffet. Do not expect too much food outside of these times - there were only small snacks served on lobby and pool bars, which were usually eaten rather quickly by people sitting there. To take food outside of dining room is officialy forbidden but if you do not do it too much agressively, you will be tolerated. On the other side, it is not good idea to go to dinning room in swimming suits (waiters could get little bit upset). Personal is very quick in removing of plates. If you do not like for your stuff to be removed, watch your plates.
Probably the best view from hotel is in the north side - small river, meadow with peasant and his cows, horses and dogs. Big (but surprisingly not too loudy) disco hall on the left hand and sea in the right. There is a big Helios hotel on the east side (between hotel and sea) and signs of Bulgarian boom and bust economy (with unfinished buildings and construction sites) on other sides. Ribarska street (La Rambla of Obzor town) is cca 300 m out of the hotel with night life anywhere - but it is still quite silent Obzor, do not expect Ibiza.
There were two animation boys during our stay, but they lacked loudspeakers so if you do not like them, you can evade them. In the near Helios hotel, animations was much more agressive with no room for exit.
Other guests were from the whole Western and Eastern Europe - you can meet people from Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria or Russia, Ukraine and even Moldavia, from young people through parents with small babies and some romances to pensioners.
One more advice to the end - small river along the hotel is changing its estuary every day. According this, it is throwing its (not so clean) water either northwards or southwards. As river estuary is quite shallow, it is good idea to go across it to swim in the clean water.
