“favourite family hotel”

We will be going back to the Bergkonig in January for the 8th time to ski on the glacier - this is the best family friendly ski hotels we have stayed in. For instance, we left our daughters ski jacket on the transfer coach one year, and Bettine the manager lent us a jacket until it was returned.
The rooms are lovely, the food wonderful with exceptional late 'afternoon teas', which include hot soup for cold skiers and as much cake and coffee or tea as you can manage.
Dinners are a 5 course feast with a help your self salad bar ideal for vegetarians ( wife).
Good ski boot room, pool and sauna, but the thing that makes this hotel truly fantastic are the staff-from Rudi behind the bar,all the waitresses and domestic staff and of course Bettine and the receptionists. There is also an excellent shuttle coach for private transfers to the slopes-can't recommend this hotel highly enough, but will be annoyed if we can't book in future!
Have never been in the summer, but plan to do so soon.

“very friendly, but beware the noisy streets around”

We spent four nights in Bergkonig this October, travelling with the friendly couple.
Overall - the hotel is absolutely recommendable.
The staff are exceptionally helpful and very attending, the food is great, the rooms are nice and spacious. Nice wellness area. Very good late lunch (15-17 hours) eating, with teas, snakes, meats and cakes. The dinners - superb.
The only two shortfalls:
1. the hotel is located in the triangle between two roads: the main road of Stubaier Tall, and the small Schulweg street immediately next to the hotel, which appears to be quite noisy every two minutes or so. Our room was overlooking the Schulweg and we had to close the window every night to be able to sleep.
2. in the wellness area the pool is located immediately next to the silent room, which makes the silence in the silent room very problematic - there is the connecting door between the pool and the silent room, usually opened by kids having noisy fun at the pool, or their parents watching the kids from the silent room.
Otherwise, great hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the room overlooking the meadow.

“Great staff and great location for family fun”

We are from the US and stayed here for a week. The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We really enjoyed having our meals on their deck. We spent the previous week in several car-less villages around the Alps so this was a bit different. The hotel is a block away from the main highway and next to the local grocery market, so the comings and goings of local life can be seen and heard from the property. We didn't mind this and found it very convenient to travel to our days destination. We have a 10 year old and went paragliding, did the ropes course adventure park, visited the glacier, hiked everyday off the lifts and of course several trips to the Roddelbahn (alpine roller coaster). The hotel has bikes you can use and a small pool we used everyday before dinner. Thank you Bergkonig staff!

“One word:- 'Magic'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

This is the third time that we stayed in the Hotel Bergkoenig. The last time we stayed there
was in July 2008. On our arrival this year we were rememberd by the owner Mrs Siller and by the waiter Rudi. Rudi spontaneously gave us as glass of sparkling wine. Also one of the waitressses remembered us. The room we were given was the same room as in 2008. Needlessly to say, it was a joy to be back. The food and facilities were again first class. Our holiday was absolutely magic. And all that thanks to Mrs Siller and her team who run the Hotel so proffesionally. A big thank you, especially to Rudi, who is an absolute gem.
We can't wait to be back.

“A good all-round hotel”

We stayed at this four star hotel for the second week of our Austrian holiday. Though smaller and cheaper than our first hotel in Alpbach we felt that the food, service, bedroom and bathroom were better.
Our double bedroom was very spacious with a large bathroom with bath and shower and a separate cubicle shower. The washbasin was set into a large marble worktop - useful for placing our toiletries, shaver etc. The large bed was very comfortable and the TV could be viewed from the bed or the seating area. The pleasant balcony had two chairs and overlooked a mountain and stables with Pallamino ponies.
On arrival we had a very warm welcome and were greeted with coffee/teas and a choice of cakes icecream and fresh fruit. We were able to partake of these on the terrace in the sunshine.
The dining room was well laid out with plenty of space. Our table overlooked the terrace and the mountain where we could watch the gondola going up and down and also the paragliders. The tables were set out in such a way that we felt we had privacy and could not overhear other tables.
The choice of menu was good and we selected our main choice for the evening at breakfast time. There was also a choice for vegetarians and an interesting children's menu.
Alternative dishes were available if you didn't fancy the choice.
Breakfast was a typical Austrian buffet with a wide range of choices and eggs and bacon were cooked to order. Packed lunches - we were given bags and could make our own - this was great as we could choose whatever we wanted.
Afternoon cake and drinks were available daily and were welcome after a long day out walking.
The swimming pool was small but nice; I enjoyed it very much. There were other Spa facilities available. I enjoyed the small garden to sunbathe after my swim and shower.
The location is good, away from the mainroad but only two minutes walk to the bus. Near the village centre etc.
I would recommend this hotel to singles, couples and families. Families seem to be absorbed into the atmosphere and I noticed a nice birthday cake with candles for one of the children staying there.
