We are an American family traveling around the world with three young childen in tow (ages 8, 5, 2). We wanted to expose our children to the "real Morocco" which we found in Azemmour, a sleepy little coastal town approximatey 1 hour south of Casablanca. It was easily accessible with a Grand Taxi (approximately $50 each way). Riad Azama is a true gem. It is tucked away in a neighborhood in the old medina. It is lovingly restored with such fine detail and attention to capturing all of the charm and tradition of this 18th century Moroccan house. The rooms are exquisitely decorated with authentic Moroccan furniture and textiles. We stayed in a room with a loft which comfortably accomodated our family of five. The view from the terrace in the evening and during the day is spectacular. We were greeted with delicious mint tea served by a young Moroccan named Bader who also served us our incredibly delicious evening meal and breakfast. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, we were made to feel like special guests with hospitality and charm that is rarely encountered. We were so fortunate to be able to spend some time with Daniel, the owner, who shared his wealth of knowledge of the history of Azemmour. He incidentally speaks excellent English. He wasextremely accomodating from the moment I emailed him until we departed his special inn. On a side note, our daughters left their beloved stuffed animal at the Riad. Daniel personally brought them to us in Casablanca!
It is hard to capture in one small review the essence of this inn or this special town. If you are truly looking for a unique, memorabe experience, look no further. It has been by far, the highlight of our travel thus far. Thank you Daniel.
