We stayed one night while exploring the wineries of the area. We stayed in a large studio and it proved to be a modern, sunny, chic room where we stayed in for the night and just took it easy. We cooked our own dinner as there was a grocery store about two short blocks away, and the kitchen was nicely stocked. Our room had a view of the mountains and while it was right off a main road, I slept soundly and did not hear any traffic. We had a delicious authentic Thai lunch at Thai Crom in the little mall across from the Lodge. Also, there is an I-site to provide recommendations for sightseeing in the area and beyond. There are quite a few places to do some hiking and the Old section of Cromwell. If you enjoy wine, be sure to visit Mt. Difficulty, Quartz Reef, Wooing Tree, and Carrick (no affiliation, I believe). There are plenty more, but those were our absolutely our favorites. Be sure to visit Wanaka which is just a 40 minute scenic drive away! Cromwell is a quiet town and was great for relaxing from our hectic itinerary.

We have stayed twice now at Carrick Lodge and we can't say enough positive things about it. Rob and Joan, the hosts, are really delightful people which is always a great start. The rooms are super clean (even when we turned up at the last minute) and the bed and linens are lovely quality. We have stayed in a spa room both times and they are warm with a HUGE spa bath. The other great thing about Carrick Lodge is it's location. You literally cross the road to Cromwell Mall which has a few eating options (go to Feast) as well as takeaways and the i-site. We were almost snowed in here and were quite sad when we weren't. The rates are really reasonable. Highly recommended...

When we arrived I realised I had stayed here for one night the year previously on a tour. Then I had a ground floor room at the end facing the road and it was enormous. This time we had a first floor room at the end facing the mall and Iloved it.

Cannot fault the room or the acommodation, clean modern good sized. Great location, friendly and informative new owners.

Unfortunately there's no swimming pool (though there is a large public pool very close). Internet access was hit and miss -- it never worked for me, but I picked up a wireless signal from the next door motel so they got the payment for that.

Cromwell is a delightful quiet little town with lakes/rivers on three sides and vineyards you can walk to. I didn't want to leave.

We stayed two nights at Carrick Lodge in May 2008 - it is now under new management and the new owners seem great. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is good too - there are several food options just over the road at the Cromwell Mall. Cromwell also makes a great base for exploring the local wineries so we were glad to be staying there.
