“The best B&B I've ever stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I have stayed at Crubenbeg House a number of times, and can honestly say that it is the nicest, most hospitable and dog-friendliest B&B I know. The layout of the (communal) dining table adds to the convivial atmosphere and is particularly appealing for solo (female) travellers, who are more often than not "tucked away" in a dark corner.

John and Irene always go to great lengths to make me feel at home, to the point of driving me to the nearest vet (free of charge) when my dog was unwell.

I really can't praise this B&B highly enough.

Best of all, Irene's delicious breakfasts are to die for!

Room Tip: Capercaillie is ideal for solo travellers (and their canine companions).

“"Wheelchair Friendly - Best By Far"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

We have stayed at a number of 'wheelchair friendly' B&B's and have had very stressfull experiences! From the very moment we arrived at Crubenbeg all our concerns were put to rest. We were warmly welcomed by Irene and John along with much needed hot mugs of coffee. Our room - The Pine Martin, was on the ground floor and had it's own entrance with ramp and car parking space. On one side of our hallway was a very spacious bedroom and on the other was a large shower room. All of which had been well thought out and designed for a disabled persons needs, and if you had any other requests Irene and John were more than happy to oblige. Everywhere was comfortable, clean and cosy, and lots of little extras around the rooms, even a 'microwaveable hot water bottle'. The food, well forget your diet, was excellent and always pipping hot, and the service always had a smile. We had a three night stay, and can honestly say we haven't talked and laughed around a table for hours each night for quite a while, 'good food, good company'. The only down side was being unable to get Hubby - who is wheelchair bound, down the four steps into the lounge area, where we could have relaxed and chatted by the log fire, but luckily for us the guests who were there with us were quite happy to stay in the dining room and chat. Although, John did volunteer to 'carry' hubby down the steps which he greatfully declined as he didn't want to do him an injury! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Crubenbeg, and it's in the Highlands too, everything was just so relaxed and stress free. So much so that we have already booked again for next year, and for longer, I think that says it all.

“Pitch Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Irene and John have just the right mix of informality and top class service. The house is beautifully appointed with sofas by the open fire and a separate communal dining area. The rooms are private and very comfortable with extra touches such as chocolates (replenished every day too!). As a base for activities it is ideal, with walks, pubs, fishing and attractions (eg wildlife park) all a short drive away. And if you just feel like staying in by the fire, Irene and John seem to know exactly when to come in with the coffee and cake (or pancakes). As for Irene's breakfasts, make sure you bring a healthy appetite with you! Yum.

We have stayed in much more expensive B&Bs which Crubenbeg House put to shame in both facilities and customer service. Highly recommended.

“Perfect place for a break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I was joining up with family members for an unexpected short trip to Scotland - just two nights. I was very taken with how John and Irene welcomed us. They were very hospitable and easy to be around and had suggestions of places to visit that they thought met our requirements. The whole place was lovely and clean and very relaxing to wander around. My room was cosy with plenty of space for hanging clothes in the wardrobe and drawers if I needed to use them plus coffee/tea making facilities with the little extra of chocolates and shortbread biscuits. The area the B + B is set in is beautiful and I would have loved to explore more if we had had the time. If I am ever in the area again I will certainly know where to book into!

“A superb B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I stayed one night as a stopover whilst on the way North to Tigh Na Sith (the 'Sister B & B' - which is also excellent). One night was enough to confirm for me all the praises listed by other guests are true. My room was the Pine Martin on the ground floor. This was very comfortable, clean, well equipped and spacious. Food was very good and John and Irene could not have made me feel more welcome. I choose to stay in for dinner - a wise choice since this was also very enjoyable. Crubenbeg is a real 'find' and I can confidently recommend it.
