As a born and bred Newtonmore man(left home at 15) it is great to see the Balavil back in the hands of the Coyle family.Spent two nights and the differance in the hotel since Fraserv took it over has to be seen to be believed.
Hospitality first class,staff excellant and very friendly and the food excellant.
Great to see the place buzzing again and look forward to returning as often as possible

Local to the area and went for a meal to check out the new bar menu. Honest bar grub with good portions and excellent value for money! The real winner was the excellent service received! The owner obviously very competent and knows how to look after his customers! Other staff very attentive and well mannered. Will be back and will recommend to friends!

We usually stay at the Glen Hotel for our hill-walking breaks in Newtonmore, but thought we'd give the Balavil a go because of the great deals. The hotel is clean and tidy, our room on the ground floor was comfy (maybe a bit too warm, even with the heating turned off) with TV and tea/coffee. The hotel bar is a bit quiet, but there was a good selection of beers and whisky. The Shinty public bar is also part of the hotel and has a good atmosphere with juke box music. There is a swimming pool too, unusual in this part of the world, but good for families if the weather is uncooperative. Food is plentiful, buffet breakfast, and waiter service dinner. Dinner menu was good for a small hotel, better to have a small selection of well cooked food, than a vast inedible menu. (The west coast seafood bake was great).
Located just off the A9 in the Highlands, the area is great for hill-walking and mountain biking.

A friend and I have just spent Hogmanay at this hotel and were very impressed. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, excellent staff and the owner was "hands-on" and most attentive. The food was delicious. Couldn't find fault with anything.
