“Do not use your clubcard vouchers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I you plan to stay at this hotel or any of the bespoke hotels group with your Tesco club reward vouchers, be warned the price they quote you is not the price that you pay. Make sure you call several times to know how many vouchers you will need. We were quoted £168 for a 2 night stay, as soon as we said we want to use our club card vouchers they told us it would be £167 PER NIGHT!

I recently stayed at the bridge hotel and had a lovely stay. It has been newly refurbished and looks beautiful. The rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, and the service from the staff was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all.

“clean hotel rooms shame about management”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Stayed here early November of 2011. On arrival there seemed a lot of building work going on, when we checked in and got to our room, it was clean to a very high standard. When my husband and myself needed an extra towel we found housekeepers who were more than willing to help, nice and polite however its a shame about the other staff including what would appear to be management! We went down to the restaurant for our evening meal, the bar-staff were inpolite and rude towards myself. It come to the end of our visit at the Hotel, when our key was accidently locked in the room, my husband went to find someone to help, and once again it was Housekeepers who were willing, on leaving the Hotel, a young lady and a young man from the housekeeping even offered to carry our bags. Would not stay again.

Room Tip: If you want a comfortable stay with a friendly face, talk to Housekeepers!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about The Bridge Hotel. Firstly may I say how pleased I am that the Housekeeping team made you welcome and 'at home' during your stay. I shall pass your comments on. Secondly, the issues raised regarding Management and Restaurant staff shall be investigated. We set our standards high and I expect nothing but the best from my team. May I thank you for bringing these matters to my attention and I will endeavour to get to the bottom of these issues.
Kind Regards,

“Meal in the refurbished restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Went along tonight for a meal with my other half in the newly refurbished restaurant. Hardly recognised the place when I walked in and it's been completely opened out to a spacious restaurant.

Very light an airy and attentive staff. Before I get on to the food, this was previously as much a pub as a restaurant so not sure where the drinkers will go now as every table is made up so maybe they just sit there with no food - who knows. When we went everyone was eating.

Ordered the rack of ribs. Waiter misheard and only 1/2 rack appeared but no big deal as there was a mountain of chips and bit of salad. I had lamb chops and got 3 which came just as I liked them - not overdone. Lots of veg to accompany and I opted for mash rather than crushed new pots but didn't like it much as it tasted reheated. Not a big potato fan so no great shakes.

We shared Eton Mess to finish and it was great. Glad we shared as would have waddled out!

“Certain areas need improving”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We stayed for 4 nights in,3 rooms, returning to our old home town, to visit friends and relatives.
The restaurant was being re-furbished when we arrived (we had no prior knowledge), although they did their best to serve customers. Evening meal food quality was fine.
breakfast fare was Ok, but keeping fried food warm, over teal lights in covered gastronorms, does not work, and the quality of this food was not very good. Cold food was OK but not excellent, and no toast on offer
Reception was very good, and we were made to feel very welcome, and they were very helpful and pleasant.
One area which needs immense improvement is the housekeeping.
1. Water and scale in kettle. i rinsed out a few times to clear but need urgent de-scaling
2. Toilet bowl had not been cleaned for a while, and I had to do some of this with toliet brush
3. Cups in the rooms were not properly cleaned, still some stains
4. Taps on basin not clean, I had to clean them
5. certain areas dusty like the bedside lamps
6. Glass on top of bedsides tables dirty
7. Mould stained sheets
In the days we were there sometimes some supplies were not topped up, and none of these missed cleaning areas were paid any attention to
2 single beds pushed together to make a double, making it uncomfortable
mattress was falling apart

Room Tip: If you want a double room, insist on one that is not made up of 2 singles pushed together

Thank you for writing a review for your recent stay at The Bridge Hotel. I would like to personally offer my apologies for the problems you incurred, we try to execute excellent customer service and on this occasion we have failed on a few points. I have discussed the issues of cleanliness with our new Head Housekeeper who has actioned these points already. I have also discussed your comments regarding breakfast with our head chef who has reviewed the breakfast offering. The points raised are important to us and I would like to thank you again for bringing these to my attention.
Kind Regards,
