well after reading some reviews about this hotel, i was pretty wary of what was waiting for us there, how wrong could i be, its brilliant, we paid £240 each or so, door to door, for 9 days all inclusive, and its incredible value for money, the hotel is clean, perfectly positioned right on the seafront, and in the middle of the old town, and the staff are faultless, the head waiter is wasted there, he should be at one of the big hotels somewhere. the hotel is a mixture of old and newer buildings now forming a inner courtyard where the pool is located, admittedly its on the small side and shaded at times, but perfectly adequate, the decor is sort of don quixote meets miss marple, marble statues, palms, wooden beams, you know what i mean, the all inclusive bit is hard to believe, the drinks are top quality local brands, estrella lager etc. i lived in spain for 5 years and i owned a bar, believe me, all the drinks are excellent brands, not the el-cheapo i was expecting, the food was as good as any mid price spanish hotel, and theres loads of it 8 or so salad dishes, then either pasta or rice, i.e ravioli, spaghetti, paella etc, then at least 3 meat and 3 fish dishes with around 8 or 10 side dishes, usually 2 or 3 types of potatoes, same with veg, and plenty of stuff for the kids, for breakfast theres cereal, bacon, 3 different types of sausages, beans, eggs, toast, ham, cheese, bread, preserves, cakes etc, and throughout every meal its serve yourself wine beer fruit juice soft drinks etc, theres a little bar with the pumps on, and you just help yourself, if thats not enough then all day there are burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, chips, sandwiches, fruit, cakes, etc, again you just wander in and help yourself, even so i heard a few complaints in reception from time to time, ie "food is too spanish" and "i dont know what it is" and "its all got garlic in" the staff just smile and apologise, but to be honest i felt embarrassed, usually the same complainants were the last to unsteadily wander off to bed after a full day on the vino collapso, amazingly the drinks werent "too spanish" for them, anyway we are returning in may, ive booked directly with the hotel, it works out about £20 per night all inclusive, you cant get a b&b in blackpool for that, and its ideal for getting out and about, its right next to the train station, its not the best hotel in spain, its not even the best hotel in malgrat, but if you are thinking of going then go, its excellent value for money.
