well after reading some reviews about this hotel, i was pretty wary of what was waiting for us there, how wrong could i be, its brilliant, we paid £240 each or so, door to door, for 9 days all inclusive, and its incredible value for money, the hotel is clean, perfectly positioned right on the seafront, and in the middle of the old town, and the staff are faultless, the head waiter is wasted there, he should be at one of the big hotels somewhere. the hotel is a mixture of old and newer buildings now forming a inner courtyard where the pool is located, admittedly its on the small side and shaded at times, but perfectly adequate, the decor is sort of don quixote meets miss marple, marble statues, palms, wooden beams, you know what i mean, the all inclusive bit is hard to believe, the drinks are top quality local brands, estrella lager etc. i lived in spain for 5 years and i owned a bar, believe me, all the drinks are excellent brands, not the el-cheapo i was expecting, the food was as good as any mid price spanish hotel, and theres loads of it 8 or so salad dishes, then either pasta or rice, i.e ravioli, spaghetti, paella etc, then at least 3 meat and 3 fish dishes with around 8 or 10 side dishes, usually 2 or 3 types of potatoes, same with veg, and plenty of stuff for the kids, for breakfast theres cereal, bacon, 3 different types of sausages, beans, eggs, toast, ham, cheese, bread, preserves, cakes etc, and throughout every meal its serve yourself wine beer fruit juice soft drinks etc, theres a little bar with the pumps on, and you just help yourself, if thats not enough then all day there are burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, chips, sandwiches, fruit, cakes, etc, again you just wander in and help yourself, even so i heard a few complaints in reception from time to time, ie "food is too spanish" and "i dont know what it is" and "its all got garlic in" the staff just smile and apologise, but to be honest i felt embarrassed, usually the same complainants were the last to unsteadily wander off to bed after a full day on the vino collapso, amazingly the drinks werent "too spanish" for them, anyway we are returning in may, ive booked directly with the hotel, it works out about £20 per night all inclusive, you cant get a b&b in blackpool for that, and its ideal for getting out and about, its right next to the train station, its not the best hotel in spain, its not even the best hotel in malgrat, but if you are thinking of going then go, its excellent value for money.

“HIT AND MISS!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

My experience with this hotel and very hit and miss!
The room was ok, but the beds were lumpy and squeaked everytime you turned over. The towels were replaced everyday if left in the bath after use, if you put them on the rail they weren't as they assumed you didn't want them replaced, (theres a notice on the bathroom door explaining about their environmental policy). But my real problem was with the rooms cleanliness! I didn't see the maid the entire week we were there! The tiles on the floor were so dirty they turned my feet black consistantly! The bottom of the pool was black in places, and didn't look like it had been cleaned in a month! Then the noise at night was awful, the walls are thin and the floors tiled so sound carries. But there were children running around the pool at night, making noise which could be heard even with the balcony door closed, screaming their heads off! People of all different nationalities running up and down the corridors shouting and generally having a good time from around midnight until 4 am!
Its a great location, next to the beach, (you have to go into an underpass due to the train station being on the end of the square where the hotel is located, which can take you to Barcelona or just to Santa Suzannah at very cheap prices), very easy, less than 1 minute and your there! The beach that is. Theres shops and bars right outside, also Malgret old town which is well worth a look, with a lovely old church, watch tower and lots of lovely shops. With so many places of interest in close proximity to the hotel including Girona and Barcelona, Tossa and Lloret De Mar, its location is very good! Theres loads to do!
The food is mostly very good, there was never a shortage of anything, it was replenished regularly by the staff, the head waiter is exellent and always smiling and helpfull. The range of fresh fruit, salad and vegetables was staggering, you name it, we probably had it, fresh melon, pineapples, kiwis, apples, oranges, bananas, plums, jelly, ice-cream, cake, torte, chocolate puddings of all kinds, yoghurts, the list is endless! The only thing is you have to queue so get there early or later to aviod the stampede because its absolute chaos! It really is a 'free for all', also there are only 2 machines dispencing fruit juice and hot drinks, the hot drinks mahcine is only on breakfast. If your not sure what something is you only have to look at picture that is provided to know. e.g. cow, pig, chicken, rabbit.Yes they did serve it and no I didn't try it. The hot food isn't actually that hot, but I wondered if they were like some parts of Italy I've been to and serve it 'at the right temperature for eating'.
All in all, its a great location with reasonable meals and a few dodgy elements.

Room Tip: Don't get one overlooking the pool!

“Hotel O.k”

This hotel is pretty good I went on an all inclusive with shearings and not really any complaints.Plenty of choices for food although it's cold but at least you have a micro wave that you can warm it up. Just be warned though when meal times start it's a mad rush I'm sure people were hiding in the bushes for starting times.
The beach is right next to the hotel and it's top class I would recomend it for a holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed good only problem nobody on the staff knew anything about getting the air condition...

“Noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

This hotel is right on the sea front with the railway station a few yards away. The trains stop about midnight and start at 6am.There is a loud beeping when the doors close.Sleep is impossible. While we were there there were building works day and night! Most of the people staying there are on all inclusive packages whichmeans they drink all day-out of plastic glasses! The food is just about bearable but is the same day after day.It was clean and serviced daily.Reception staff work 12 hour days and are paid the minimum. The hotel was closing for 6 mths due to lack of business so staff were going to be unemployed-not the best of atmosheres.Beach is very gritty. It was a very cheap holiday so it was unfair to expect too much.Would I go again-NEVER.

Room Tip: ask for south facing room overlooking the pool-you may get sleep then!

Got back sunday 02/10/2011. well all I can say is that we had a great week, found the hotel to
be nice and clean, our room was very clean and the balcony was over looking the square witch
was very nice. food was half and half and edible. but you cant pay for 3 star and get 5 star
treatment. So value for money it was excellent.dont use the shop across from the main bar on
the corner he will rob you the first chance he gets, I know I bought a travel kettle it cost 24.50
euros but he took the price off before we got it. and some one we met on holiday a lovely
couple from coventry went in the shop for use to see how much it was 10>00 euros. I know we
should have asked first but we did not think he would rob us. and yes we will be going back
to this hotel.
