“interesting!”

this hotel is not what it seems to be. my partner and i went there for a lovely romantic week away, it was for our 4 year anniversary!
however we were extremly dissapointed!!
the rooms were not at all what the pictures make them out to be, and for what we paid we were not happy atall. We also recieved 3 single beds in our room which is not what we asked for! after complaining 3 times to have a double bed or a new room we gave up because they did not do anything (even though every time staff said it would be sorted) Food was good for a buffet but the bar was a mess and had not been kept well atall (again not like the photos')
cleaners every morning at a very early time, and if you did not get up to leave them to clean the room, they would keep banging on the door. (they obviously did not know the meaning of privacy)
staff were rude and our rep could barely understand us and gave us wrong information!
ruined our holiday, very unhappy, would not reccommend this hotel!

“Ignore the bad reviews..it's fine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2009

The hotel is basic but it is very clean and all the staff are friendly with the exception of the really ignorant barman who clearly does not like the hotel guests.Ignore him and you will be fine.Towels are changed daily, room cleaned daily. The food is absolutely fine unless you are a person who only eats junk food. There is a lot of pork ,chicken and lovely fish and it is cooked well and nicely presented.Lunch is equal to dinner in variety. There is always salad and chips and a variety of either mashed potato, pasta ,rice. We did not experience any horse meat, there was some rabbit but this is a Spanish cultural food. Some people were complaining but to be honest i dont know why and i thought they were really fussy. The pool is clean and a bit small but it is fine. The hotel was a really pleasant surprise after reading some of the reviews which were less than good. We had a good time and it had a great atmosphere whilst we were there with differant age groups and nationalities,Spanish,British,Russian and Danish all talking to each other and having a laugh. Im not a fan or Karaoke but this international effort had me in stitches. We did have some sleepless nights with the British younger clients making a racket at all hours of the night but take ear plugs as the walls are thin and the doors slam back noisily when closed . You know who you are '.......off nosey and co'ha ha.Take the train to Barcelona for about 6 or 7 Euros return or to Callella. You can get to Blanes for a couple of Euro, its 5 mins on train and then about 10 mins on bus which is directly outside the train stationat Blanes. Pay for both at the train station.Blanes is particularly pleasant..Lots of shops just across the roadfron the hotel via the horrible subway.Subway is fine in the day but it's abit scary at night. Keep walking left from hotel and you reach santa Suzanna in 5-10 mins or less and walk right to the old town in the same time.Hotel is directly on the beach, dont think the sea is good for children as it shelves quite quickly. The sand is coarse and hard on the feet so sea shoes would be helpful. All in all excellent value for the price we paid.

“Don't do it!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

I have never even thought of writing a review before, but feel I owe this to anyone who is about to plan a trip here. The staff were awful, just horrible, they would give you a look as though you were the [--] on the bottom of their shoe, I was actually nervous going up to the bar or reception. The bar closes at 11 30, and all communal lights all off before midnight... the manager even came over to our balcony to tell us to shutup at 12midnight, there were only three of us... and genuinely not that loud, it was like bootcamp! There are no mosquito curtains and the air-conditioning was useless... so at night you were trapped in a hot sticky room (not sexy!), unable to open the doors or windows... or you would eaten by the tiger mosquitos! There is a gym, with a running machine, 2 bikes and a cross trainer... but not one machine worked... and the jacuzzi was broken. I'm really not high maintenance... but there is no way you stomach that food... everything was fried... even the sweetcorn and the peas??? They even managed to make bad chips! It was so upsetting seeing my partners face eating that stuff... especially when you are suppossed to be enjoying your wee break. The only good thing is the location as it is right on the beach... and it's near the train station for getting the hell out of there! We ending up sticking a few nights in Barcelona on the credit card, so we could enjoy a couple of days.... what a beautiful city!

“nice hotel, just needs a few improvements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

we went on a 3 day holiday just before our wedding in July. It was a last minute idea but we were a bit worried when we read the reviews but it was actually quite a nice hotel

We were welcomed by an ignorant girl on reception that was too busy doing her paperwork to deal with us. We didnt see her again so it didnt really matter.

Our room was quite small but it was big enough to sleep in. Our toilet did have a dodgy door though which was falling off the hinges but that was the only complaint of the room. Had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel was a lot smaller that i imagined it to be, not much in it really but enough for just a few days if you want to get away and have a drink with friends/family etc. There was a gym and outside pool for leisure facilities.

Aso for meal times. No bad had better but it was edible. Not a lot of choice though. about 10 choices in total. The dining room was very small and was crowded a lot of the time especially by the drinks machines which were directly next to the food. Not the best place to put it!
As for bars. There were 2, one outside the dining room and an outside bar near to the pool area. The outside one opened about 9 am after breakfast but closed up half an hour before meal times so that member of staff could go and work in the restaurant at meal times. So half an hour before meal times, you couldnt get a drink!! it was so silly. You could only get beer or wine in the restaurant at meal times and you had to poor the beer yourself. No good if you dont know how. The bar then opened up again after Lunch and closed 1/2 hour before dinner. At all times there was only one man serving on this bar and he was responsible for all drinks and snacks. This was not fair as the different bar men were usually rushed off their feet. The snacks werent bad. All freshly cooked to order. There were thin pizzas, chips, undercooked burgers and weird things they called toasties but it wasnt a toastie to me!

The beech directly behind the hotel was lovely and the sea was lovely and clear.

The entertainment at night was okay but not the best. We saw kareoke 2 nights and just general music played on another which was okay. Not the best but not bad. The bar beside the restaurant was the only one open after dinner and at times got very busy. The rule is 2 drinks per person but you needed more really as we were up and down most of the night.

the dreaded subway was totally fine. it was a bit scary at night but we didnt get any hassle off anyone.

the only other bad thing was the transfers. DO NOT use PERLA TOURS!!! we were due to be picked up at 3am outside the hotel over the road and further down, obviously going through the subway. We waited and waited and there was no sign at all so at about 3.50am we went back to try ring them. Every number i had for them didnt work so we began to panic!! Eventually the reception man did get through and we were picked up only an hour late. No apologies at all.

Overall a good place for a few nights break but not for much longer. We heard while we were there that there were very little staff as they were trying to run the place down as their local council wanted the hotel buldozed so that everything across the trainline was just beech and no hotels. It is a shame really because with more staff it could be a really nice little hotel.
