Have stayed twice in the Aqua bella and enjoyed our stay each time The hotel is clean . and spacious.The location is perfect for those who spend most of their holiday in the old town as we do.Its close to the railway station for easy travel to Barcelona and other coastal towns. We also managed to travel from Girona airport quite easily by bus and Barcelona airport very easily by train. Book a premier room for a little extra cost well worth the view and free pool towels. Will travel to Malgrat again next year and stay at the Aqua Bella.

I stayed at the hotel as part of a school group of 60+ 13 year olds visiting Barcelona. The hotel was offered to us by the tour company and after looking at it's website we decided to stay there. We spent four nights there and had a fabulous time. Most of the other reviews are spot on and I simply cannot understand how a reviewer can give it such an abysmal rating.
The hotel was spotless and given that as teachers we were in and out of the rooms checking on the kids, the cleanliness was spot on with everything as it should be.
The pool area was great and the kids loved it. There is a smaller kids pool as well as a much smaller pool at the back which for some reason seemed to be much warmer. There is an indoor pool too but we didn't use it.
As for the food, when you take that many teenagers away the one thing they find to moan about is the food. Quite simply though, the food at breakfast and in the evening was fantastic. Everyday the choice and variety meant that there was something for everyone to enjoy. There were also the themed nights with different kinds of food.
Considering that we were a school party, the staff were unbeliveably kind and helpful. Nothing was too much of a problem for them and any minor problems were dealt with instantly. I think we may have been their first ever school group.
All in all, we had a great time. The hotel is not far from the beach which we made adequate use of in the evenings. It's a very good base for exploring Barcelona.
Both the kids and staff loved it and we will definitely be going back next year.

We visited the Bella Playa last year and had a brill time! Hotel was great, very clean and food was varied with theme nights... american, italian, indian etc
Rooms were great and had a good view of the pool, air conditioning worked very well and was very welcome in the 35 degree heat! Two adult pools and plenty of sunbeds where we didnt have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve sun loungers!! Pool service was great and we had many a happy beer around the pool bar!
The hotel is in a great location close to the beach, local bars and shops, the Robin Hood especially made our 7yr old very welcome and he loved it!! We also had an excellent Sunday lunch which was very popular, so need to book in advance.
We visited nearby resorts on the train which was easy to do for a non lingo speaker like me!!
Enjoyed this holiday so much we are looking forward to going again this August

Went to Bella playa last year, the hotel was really clean and the food was better than expected, with good theme nights etc, guests were mainly Spanish but this was no detriment, as our son still made friends despite the language barrier, Bella Playa is in great location, we have booked again for this August in a premium room, we just hope it is as good again, it is a bit dead in some of the bars, but this can be an advantage for families as we were treated as regulars, I will report back after our holiday.
