“A perfect night's sleep”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Such a shame we only had one night - I would have happily stayed for a week. The peace and quiet up on the hillside where the Parador is found is totally undisturbed. There is no annoying music in the bar when you have a drink on the terrace overlooking the sea and Santa Cruz. There is no "entertainment" either round the pool or anywhere else which makes it just perfect.

The facilities are faultless, both in the room and around the hotel, lots of parking, friendly reception and bar staff, incredible views (try and ask for a room in the front building - some of the rear rooms don't have such good views), spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and it's also well signposted from the centre of Santa Cruz so you can't get lost.

Other than trying a casa rural and self-catering, I wouldn't stay anywhere else on our next visit.

Room Tip: Second floor in the front building.

“Superb, scenic and serene!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

Without resorting to cliches, it is hard to fault this most comfortable hotel on La Palma. No one pretends that this is a five-star glitzy destination but if you want a quiet place to escape to from the northern winter, this is a very good choice. It is most reasonably priced, with breakfast for two thrown in. Paradors are great choice for the discriminating traveller, with no noisy folk to annoy you by day or keep you awake at night. While the rooms are not 100% soundproofed, they pass muster.

Take plenty of reading matter with you, there is not a great deal to do and the hotel is rather isolated, although if you are hiker, it may be just what you want. There is a local bus that passes by which will take you to the town of Santa Cruz, This has some interesting 18th-century buildings. The Parador should of course organise a courtesy shuttlebus, as this would be more convenient. The swimming pool should be heated, too, as it is far too cold to swim in for part of the year, except for masochists,

The rooms are however very well-appointed, the beds neither too soft or too hard, the pillows just right. A fair-sized room, with a balcony and seaview complete the picture. The bathroom is well up to standard. There is Wi-Fi accessible throughout the hotel even in your room.

The restaurant is very much as you would expect in the Parador, with reliable menus at a reasonable price. They could however have been changed more extensively on a daily basis but the choice was adequate. The local wine is also recommended and is not too expensive.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the chambermaid top-notch. We would stay here again without hesitation but maybe at a later date. The sister Parador in La Gomera is perhaps a little more atmospheric but it's 'horses for courses', as they say!

“Perfect place to discover the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

The service at this Parador is excellent, both at the front desk and at the restaurant, which made us feel welcomed from a very beginning.

The Parador is in the outskirst of Santa Cruz, and therefore you will need definately a car to move around. However, there is barely some traffic on the island, and therefore you will not have any trouble in finding parking spaces.

The rooms are big and appointed at the "Parador" style, this is, with typical Castillean furniture. Bathroom is big and with all the affinities you would expect (from cologne to body milk).

There is a nice patio in the Parador where you can have a wine, and the restaurant is excellent. We had a really excellent dinner, where we could taste some Canarian delicacies. A must when staying here!

Finally, the Parador has nice and big gardens, and a good pool to splunge when coming back from hiking.

Definately will be back the next time!!

“excellent "away from it all" one week break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We were seeking a week's R & R away in a good hotel in a quiet but picturesque setting away from the hustle and bustle of popular resorts and felt we struck gold in terms of both this hotel and indeed La Palma as one of the less touristified Canary Islands. Very clean, attractive, well furnished Canary-style hotel with friendly & courteous staff (most of whom though are not great English speakers - which encourages one to try out that smattering of Espanol that can be called upon if it's really needed!). Mostly Spanish and German guests at the time of our visit, few English. Good food, reasonably priced wines but bar drinks quite expensive.

Towels for the sunbeds / swimming pool are available from reception but, strangely, the hotel literature doesn't mention this. A minor criticism would be poor soundproofing between rooms if you're unlucky and end up next to a noisy neighbour but this Parador seems to be the kind of establishment that attracts a more considerate type of hotel guest.

“Elegant location with lot of quietness”

Located on a hill not far from the seaside and main harbour, it is a good solution for a clean and elegant stay. Well positioned for a trip around the island, it has large rooms and well furnished bathroom.
Garden and surroundings are well kept and parking place available for free.
We tasted also the restaurant which offer nice plates and service.
They shall improve driving directions (road signs) as it is not on a main touristic road.
