“Wonderful, peaceful place - recommend for those who want to stay away from Center and prefer tranquil stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2011

I had the pleasure of staying at Can Pere with a group of friends and family originating from such diverse places as Mexico, Japan, France, Switzerland and of course U.S. We all had a fantastic time. The ambience at Can Pere definitely helped out. It is a very serene location in the middle of the hills with nice ammenities and very clean. We were fortunate to meet the owners who were the nicest people. For people who are looking at Ibiza for it's party life/night life, be forewarned that Can Pere is not where all the action is. If that is what you want, then you might look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a serene place with rolling hills and lush vegetation, Can Pere is the place.

“Great setting but needs to do better”

Stayed for a long weekend at Can Pere at the end of July. This hotel is in a great setting on a hilltop with fine views of the surrounding countryside. The other side of the coin is that it is a 2km drive up an unsurfaced track from the main road to get there but this is readily manageable after the first time (especially in a hire car with nil excess insurance.....). The overall location is a pretty good compromise-only 20 minutes or so from Ibiza Town but with the feel of the quieter north of the island.

There is an attractive small swimming pool at the front of the property and a terrace which is an ideal place to sit and relax.

Our room was short on space but with a comfortable bed, aircon, flatscreen TV and free WIFI which was very fast. However, it was clear that the owners need to put some more investment back into this place to resolve some maintenance issues such as the water coming from the aircon unit in our room and a burst shower head which sprayed pretty much everywhere but down.

The owners also need to address staffing. One lady ran pretty much everything with a couple of part time assistants. They worked flat out but with the best will in the world service does suffer from the limited staffing. This was most evident at breakfast which was a rather poor affair.

Given the fab location and good comfort, none of that would matter but for the fact that the pricing is getting towards premium Ibiza country house hotel territory. You expect to pay more in Ibiza and fair enough for all the island has to offer but owners getting those returns should deal with issues like the above.

“disappointing”

The place likes to think its a "Boutique Hotel", but its more of a "B&B".
We stayed in one of the suites. Pleasant enough, but with "rustic" old furniture, and only a hand-held shower in the bath (not even a hook for it). The "private patio" is a rather small patch of scruffy concrete. We had a tree for some shade, but the other rooms didn't. 2 ancient wooden loungers. No umbrella, no table. Pretty basic in fact.
As someone else says, the std rooms are a good size, but there is a notice in reception requesting quiet...so I guess the walls really are thin.
The pool is very pleasantly situated, breezy cool views, but the "designer" sun-beds are flat & do not adjust up to provide a back rest, so reading is pretty uncomfortable/ impossible.
Breakfast is a bit hit and miss : good coffee, warm bread, cold cuts (meat/cheese). Fruit : variable/ sparse. Cooked eggs/bacon on request.
Its run by one woman and her assistant, who are really nice and work really hard, but have to do everything from making the coffee to cleaning the rooms. No-one else around. OK for a B&B, but at these prices it really does need a proper Manager.
We didn't try the dinner, but despite an impressive looking menu in reception, I cannot believe they could deliver such sophisticated sounding stuff for just the handful of guests..
Oh yes, and its 15 minutes along a very twisting road between Ibiza town & St Eularia, with the last 2km on dirt track. No shops or bars nearby: Cala llonga is nearest, but thats a pretty basic tourist development..
Wouldn't stay there again...very overpriced, even for Ibiza.

“Sack the mgmt - if u can find them......”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

Nice looking hotel, not a bad part of the island, very nice pool and terrace, up in the rolling hills away from the burger bars of the coast. Unfortunately that is about the end of the good part.....the rest is like sth from Fawlty Towers......

Very overpriced, often there was virtually nothing available for breakfast other than Coco Pops, we made the mistake of ordering dinner in the restaurant once to find that basically everything was off (other than pork chops, which they brought out, but had no rice or vegetables to go with them!!!!)

Room was called a suite but that was a joke - the "living room" consisted of two settees and a fridge. The jacuzzi didn't work, nor the shower on the first day!! We had to ask at reception for more toilet roll and the room was not cleaned until persistently requested over a period of three days.

We had a "complimentary" fridge in the room which we had to ask the restaurant for bottles to fill up as they didn't bother -(they then also tried to charge us for them!!?!). The room smelt damp and musty, but this was probably an improvement on the outside smell, which was of cow dung, 24/7. The gardener was cheerfully throwing it all over the grass even though we told them of the smell (I know it says agroturismo, but there is a limit....).

The one thing that was good in our "suite" was that, because it was an out building (an old cowshed, likely) it was very quiet, while others who were staying in the main building said the walls were like paper and it was entirely possible to overhear other guests' most intimate moments with some clarity.....

The hotel was like the Marie Celeste in terms of the mgmt - there was none whatsoever evident. Of the people working there, to the extent that there were any, some were ok, others were really quite rude. The aforementioned gardener apparently doubled as night porter, concierge, reception and various other functions, but at least he was someone you could ask.....

I suppose the good thing about the lack of mgmt was that when we informed the reception girl we would be only partially settling the bill, she didn't really appear to care - I suspect it is not the first time she had encountered that.....

“not a suitable place”

My husband and me are very fond of spending our holidays in quiet places where we can enjoy nice clean beaches, solitude and good food. Last summer we decided to go to Ibiza, one of the Spanish paradises.
We booked for 8 days in a hotel called Can Pere. Apparantely, it was going to be a nice stay since it is a very small hotel, located in a quiet area and rated as a four star hotel- not precisely cheap for the service, of course.
When we arrived, we were fascinated by the external appearance of the house but we were soon to be disappointed when we were led to or room. It was extremely small, it stank to humidity and the bathroom was a complete disaster: we hardly had space to move in a tiny shower whose shower screen was loose at the top and about to fall off.
Moreover, there was only a poor woman in charge of all the staff and she was also serving breakfasts in the morning.
I would never return to this place and I would recommend to saty n other Charming Hotels in Ibiza. That is what we are going to do the next time.
