I have never been dissapointed with a holiday as with this one location not as described. My family and i walked 3 mile twice a day to get to civilization of Es Cana for shops bars restaurants and evening entertainment .{We hadnt booked a hiking holiday}.
The walk was along an unlit road with no footpath or across fields.We brought a torch for safety but with 2 children the walk at night was to say the least worrying.
Apartments - We had booked Mar Azul apartments one of 27 .We got adjoining complex Tennis.Out side grubby ,In side health hazzard.Bare wires from the cooker extractor,Live ?.Bare wires from wall lights ,Live.Rusty ,Mouldy fridge.Rusty ,Mouldy bath.Sealcovers hanging off basin and bidet,Cockroaches entered and exit though these holes.During the night 21/08/06 i was woken by cockroaches crawling though my hair and bed linen.The bedroom shutters broken,the balcony door broken.I could not shut these,my husband had to using excssive force,which had to be done as we were on the gound foor,and the large number of breakins which happened while we were there.
The sofa bed and pull out bed were stained,with springs sticking up,unsuitable for the lightist of children.
These apartments are not fit for human habitation they ere Skanky and need to be pulled down.

A really awful place to stay. on our arrival we were met by another guest who said "welcome to hell" and it was. Our apartment was a disgrace, no gas to cook with, doors on cupboards falling off, VERY poor security which then led on to at least 8 break ins that we knew of. It was SO old and tatty and we did ask to move straight away but were told it was not possible. I had a rat on my sun lounger and we saw them in the complex at night. It was smelly, the pool was dirty and it was so isolated that you could only move about by rough tracks or down the main road. The staff who worked there were lovely and I felt sorry for them and the rep as people complaIned one after another due to the state of the place. We wanted to come home but had to stay and make the best of it, thank god we found Es Cana and signs of life. We met some really nice people in the complex who were every bit as frustrated as we were and that kept us going. This was not a 3 key rated place it was a dump and it was a shame that this was our only holiday.

what a dump , filthy run down and dangerous electrics. we stayed here for two weeks and hated it there was nothing to do for the teenagers no where to go ,in the beach bar there was only us there and the bar staff looked like they were waiting to close all the time.seven rooms were broke in to the security was very poor , new locks were put on but the patio doors were still not secure. there were several sitings of rats aronnd bar and pool .The rooms were bad ,damp ,smelly and no kitchen equipment .While taking a shower you got electric shocks and electric blew all together at one point, when fixed leaving us with just one working plug. Rooms not cleaned hardly and sheets not changed in two weeks towels once.Dont go here if you want to cook in your room because the fridge didnt work and the cooker had wires hanging out.No bars near by that sold breakfasts and lunches,we werent aware there was another pool to use so we stayed at the small pool but not cleaned out very often. howevwe the manager was freindly and so was the two English ladies.I dont recomend this apartment or the area.

On our arrival we taken from our bus with our rep to the bar which was the main reception (dont know how you would check in when the bar is closed) Anyway the rep was stopped 4 times by differnet people to make complaints. We then thought what the hell is this place. One view is a building site the other way a farmers field. Its basically in the middle of nowhere. We then sat at the bar for 40 minutes waiting for our room.

Our room was very basic but was ok. We unpacked our clothes & things and decided to go to the shops for some food & water. Just as we walked out of our room the man stayting oppisite stopped us and warned us that his room had been robbed the previous night and to take all of our money, passports and basically anything valuable. We tried for a safety depoist box put there only 12 between the whole complex. We thought the robbery was a one off but the hotel was robbed 9 times during our weeks stay. The resort is very rural but its just a 10 minute walk to Es Cana which was a good resort with a good selection of bars & resurants. Dont walk over the fields at night.

The hotel is nothing as described in the broucher. We were given a free trip of our choice. We choose a cowboy night in San Antoino it was a poor night & would not off been happy if we had payed for it.. I felt a bit sorry for our rep as there were lots of complaints everyday. But you cant blame the people for complaing after being robbed.

Another thing i could not understand new arrivals were being moved to different hotels on the island when people who had been asking to be moved on previous days were tolled islands hotels were fully booked. In our weeks stay our room was only cleaned once and towels were never changed. The hotel needs some mayor refrubishments i think its been left to run down. A special mention to the staff who were very friendly and tried to make the best of our holiday by doing various entertainment.

Overall our hoilday was ok, I think that was because we met some cracking familys there and will probably stay in touch with some by the end off the week we were all laughing about the sitaution because we were all in the same boat.
