“A good base for exploring Ibiza for families”

We stayed in this hotel for a week in October half term on a self-catering basis. We had a great room overlooking the pool on the third floor. It looked a little basic at first, but we really enjoyed staying there as the week went on. There was a small kitchen area in the main room, this room also had a TV, microwave oven, fridge, two sofa beds, good sized wardrobe, table and chairs. Sliding doors led from this room to a small balcony. Then there was a good sized bedroom with twin or double bed, and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower.

We had read previous reviews that kettles are not provided, forgot to take a travel one, but managed perfectly well by boiling water in a small sauce pan. There is a good sized supermarket between the hotel and the main road. Santa Eulaila has a great range of resturants, and small shops. The hotel is in a great position near to the beach, some of the waterfront cafes are ok, but there are better and more reasonable places to eat in the town. Avoid Peir 1 in particular, over priced and poor quality food, but we heartily recomend Ramblas and Royalty.

The hotel has a decent pool and plenty of sunloungers, but we prefered the beach, walking and sightseeing.

The only reason I can't give the hotel 5 stars is that it is noisy. We were disturbed at different times by other noisy guests around the pool at night, toilets flushing in neighbouring rooms, and people moving around in the room above us. If you're next to someone getting the family up for an earily flight it sounds like the water is running in your bathroom are they all shower and use the toilet! Although there are notices asking guests to be considerate and keep the noise down at night, this did not stop a group of other hotel guests from spending every night laughing and the tops of their voices every 5 minutes nightly until about 2am!

Never the less, we had a great week for a budget price and we would stay there again.

“Couldn't have asked for a better location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Having read other people's reviews of this place we were aware that we would be asked if we wanted to upgrade - declined the offer as we didn't plan to spend much time at the hotel especially as we are "beach" people rather than "pool" lovers. We had breakfast each day sitting on our balcony in the sunshine and were able to watch people walking along the promenade.

The weather was extremely hot for the two weeks and we slept with the windows open and listened to the waves rather than have noisy air conditioning running.

The cleaners came everyday except for Tuesday which is their day off.

We had a one bedroom apartment and, as other reviewers have said, they are rather on the small side. Ideal for two adults but probably awkward if you need to get the sofa beds out each night - where are you supposed to put the tables and chairs.

We were glad to be on the side of the hotel as the entertainment was a bit noisy at times but it didn't go on late. You could hear entertainment from other places nearby though.

We didn't use the restaurant - the meals looked a bit bland when we saw a menu towards the end of the holiday but part of a good holiday for us is to have a leisurely meal out in the local restaurants each night.

We hired a car through the hotel to tour the island for three days and walked everywhere else.

Having walked along the harbour area we think the position of this hotel was superb - right on the front by a sandy beach and a leisurely 10 minutes stroll to the main restaurant area.

We asked for kettles when we arrived and they were soon supplied.

The main problem with the apartment was only minor - too few plug holes. We had to unplug the toaster to make a hot drink!

“Great Base”

This would have been a 5 star review but the fridge next to the bed was a bit noisy.

The aparthotel is in a great location right on the promenade. The staff were very helpful and all areas were clean. We didn't sample the food as we were self catering in a studio apartment which had all necessary cooking equipment if you wanted a night in.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view

“Great stay”

I think the ranking depends on the date you stay.
We stayed first week of May, hotel wasn't full, staff were excellent, lots of sunbeds, food choice very good. Room had kitchen with microwave and fridge - even on all-inclusive.
Others round the pool had stayed in the height of summer and said that's why they came back in May the year after because it's too busy in July and August.
Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Don't go in height of summer.

“A nice little break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We have just returned from a pleasant holiday at the Orquidea. We were there from the 1st October until the 8th. The weather was really good for this time of year. Averaging 27 degrees. We went self catering and stayed in a studio apartment. We were like everyone else asked if we would like to upgrade but decided to stick to what we paid for. We were given a room on the top floor at the side and had a view of the hills and church on top of a hill. We also saw the sun set every night. When we first walked in the room we thought how small it was but once we had put everything away and had our first breakfast in the room we realised it was substansial for what we needed. It was very clean and we had bedding changed twice in the week. Santa Eulalia itself was a lovely little resort. There were plenty of eating and drinking places. When we first ventured out we just wanted a snack meal to put us on and tried a place called Pier 1 on the front. Not to be recommended. Not good food and the beer was 4 euro's a pint. At lunch time we went to Dona Ana's on the edge of the mariner. It was nice snack food and beer was 2.50 euro's. There is a nice restaurant on the front we dined at some evenings I think is called Atenia or something similar. It was a little more expensive but worth it. Another nice place was Nautical Beach Club. There were other restaurants on what they called Restaurant Street but we didn't get round to trying any of these. Just up the road from the front of the hotel there is a Spar shop and across the road from there is a spanish supermarket which we found cheaper than the Spar. You can get in to Ibiza town by bus for 3.90 euros each way. When you get to the terminus you will see the tourist information kiosk just further up and across the road in the square. You can ask for a map and they will tell you which way to go to the old town.It was quite a climb to the old quarters but was well worth it. All in all we enjoyed the holiday and would probably go back again sometime.

Room Tip: If prepared to pay more I would say upgrade to sea view.
