visited la cala hotel in june/july and september. weather very hot both times just the hotel was less full in june/july. which made for very peaceful mealtimes. we were on full board.
paella every lunchtime mmm ! but never served at the evening meal.
rice pudding most days. lovely.
throught the week the soups were pea, tomato, mushroom that was it.
omelletes for breakfast but were left to dry out. make sure you get a freshly made one.
ordered a picnic which i didnt like but the cat on formentera really enjoyed it.
the lamb shanks we had at dinner were gorgous and i just had to complement the chef on them but there were also diced carrots on the menu. urgh!!! reminded me of school dinners and i actually loved school dinners but not the diced carrots.
sunbeds were too close to each other by the pool so i asked if the waiter who cleaned the area at night could rearrange them better. he never did, so i had to.
sunbeds on one side get mostly sun and the other side shade and it was a bit of a laugh watching them at 9 am when the barrier goes up and they start rushing for the beds. always the beds in the sun.
the pool was warm and gets the sun about 2 til4pm. nice depths not too deep.
air con was fantastic and the ceiling fan was wonderful.
2 dinky reading lights, but i had to change my room and in both rooms a light bulb had gone.
does nobody report light bulbs that dont work?
we had some adult toys in the pool. 2 lilos, 2 foam swimming aids, a crocodile, a football, bat and balls until these were confiscated and put out of sight .these were all items left behind.
shame as people enjoyed having a play and they were always put back into the playpen (kids pool) after use. what we secretly hoped for was somenone leaving behind a rubber dingy as the bats would have made good oars !!
scenery on the coach transfer from the airport to santa eulalia was stunning.
tv channels were only cnn and sky
we did the coastal walk from santa eulaia to es cana. very nive and it took 1 hour but i will not be doing it again as some of the paths are falling into disrepair and are very dangerous.
the mini train which you catch at the town hall is very amusing and goes right out into the countryside and includes a free drink.
lovely boat ride into es cana , ibiza town and forementera from the harbour.
we cycled on formentera but it was too hot.
the prom is lovely by day and by night and there is live music in the harbour and on the prom.
but latin music there is non.
oh there was a salsa night at bar la sal in june but that was up for sale in september.
we wanted a pool view when we booked the holiday so we paid for one.
the hotel was full in september.
this hotel ticked most of my boxes.
the man on reception and you will know him when you meet him was absolutely delightful and what a smile.
there was a whirlpool but this was in the spa area and had to be paid for.
the drinks in the bar were reasonable and my husband recommends the mojita as he is a connisseur and says it was the best in santa eulalia.
