“Little has changed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

I returned to the Hotel Jackson without high expectations following my previous review but needing a bed for the night. I was passing through en route to Eastern Romania so am not unfamiliar with the prevailing standards of accommodation. Little has changed since November 2006 except that some things are worse. With two companions we were surprised to be told that the hotel was full except for one single and one double room. We also learned that credit cards are no longer accepted "because of the banks". See photo of logo on the door. After reluctantly accepting this another room was miraculously found from nowhere. During the whole of that evening and the following morning we saw only one other person in the hotel who could have been a guest .

“Indeed only if you have to”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

We stayed here for one night in March after 1000km road trip, coming from Germany last year. The interior of the motel looks nice but the rooms are very dated, large but dated . At least you have a shower and a bed and if you are really tired you do not hear the noise from the engines from the outside truck parking.
beware that the room have a roof mirror so you get my point what are they used for.
The price was 35e breakfast included which was good and as well the breakfast. we had also dinner which was very good with very good prices.
You can pay with credit card.
If you really feel that you cannot drive anymore, stop here, otherwise go to Arad or better stop in Mako at Autospanzio, with excellent food , accomodation and service.

“If you must!”

Romania is a long drive fromthe U.K. After 1300 miles in two days and the inevitable and frustrating time-wasting negotiation with customs at the Hungary-Romania border it is a relief to find anywhere to sleep. This hotel is conveniently situated right on the Romanian side of the border and accepts payment by credit card. English is spoken and the hotel does serve meals up to 10.00pm although I have found them willing to stretch this if the chef is still on site. Don't forget that this is still only 9.00pm on the Hungarian side. Rooms are fairly basic but with en suite showers and Romanian standards of workmanship but clean. If you get the choice opt for a first floor room rather than ground floor as these are somewhat quieter. There is a night club which operates on the first floor at the back of the hotel with very loud music and very few clients but if you are sufficiently tired you will still sleep.

  • Liked — It was there when we needed it
  • Disliked — uncomfortable bed
  • Tips/Secrets — Arrive late and leave early
