We stayed in apartment 113 in lote 5 for 10 nights in August. The apartment and complex was so clean and safe. The apartment had everything you needed for a family holiday even a small cool box which was so handy. The complex itself was perfect, the staff very helpful and plenty of green areas for the kids to play (our children are 12 and 8). They were allowed to play in the pool ie. jumping, diving, etc. you just are not allowed any inflatables or balls in the pool but these are allowed in the pool for younger children.
There were lots of families with different age groups and the kids all played together, rounders, football, etc. The pool table at the bar was a great addidtion with all the kids having their own tournaments. I would have no hesitation in reccommending this apartment which we booked through holiday lettings or the complex. It is a 15 minute stroll to the town and 4 euros in a taxi ,so a great location.

We are just back from villa marachique having spent ten days there. Although the complex was very nice it is totally unsuitable for families with children over eight. There is a very large pool but they were not allowed play in it, it is strictly for swimming no fun allowed. There are so many rules its like a prison everything you do is watched leaving you with a very uncomfortable feeling. Sunbeds or umbrellas are not allowed on the grass area so if you are not lucky enough to get a space in the paved area around the pool which is very small you can only stretch out on the grass on a towel.

Not to everyones taste - but to me, i love it

My husband, daughter and I stayed in vila marachique for a week in June & September.
The 1 bedroom apartment was well equipped and all nescessary kitchen appliances and utensils were available, including tv and dvd player, ipod docking station, travel cot, hairdryer and even books to read while we were there and toys for children to pay with.
The apartment was spotlessly clean, air conditioned and we had a daily maid service.
The pool are is spectacular with a small childrens pool and a large pool which never gets crowded, there were always plenty of sun loungers available. The gardens are quite large with plenty of trees to sit under for shade and there is a childrens play area. It is particularly safe for families as a security fob is needed to enter the pool area. The pool bar serves drinks, and ice-cream.
There is a fabulous restaurant directly across the road from the complex, and another a 4 min walk away, there is also a small shop just around the corner and a larger supermarket in the village
The village of alvor is approx a 10min walk all downhill, there is a bus service outside the complex and regular taxis which cost approx €4.
Beach is also around a 10 min walk away but I am not a beach person.
Alvor has an abundance of great restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets.
All in all could not fault this complex or recommend it highly enough.
Will definately be back next year.
