“This is not good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2010

We have visited Ostuni on several occasions and always stayed in rented apartments and houses in the City. We decided to stay in La Terra because we understood it was the best hotel for miles around. We were very disappointed. Whilst it is 'historic' and the staff were friendly and helpful the facilities are very poor. The rooms (we changed ours because we found it very cold) are basic and the en-suit in both rooms are dated.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities and the room service is very expensive. Whilst we accept that we were travelling out of season there was absolutely not atmosphere in the hotel.
We would not recommend this to a friend. There are some lovely apartments and houses in the city for rental. This hotel does not compare with anything we have stayed in previously.

“Conveniently located in Ostuni”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2009

Hotel is old converted "castle", strangely sprawling, and I found it easy to get lost trying to find the breakfast room. (Look for the elevator, and then you won't be lost). Several beautiful outdoor patios that look out over the white city of Ostuni. Rooms we stayed in were adequate, but not especially roomy, and only a little window. Thankfully, it had tall ceilings, so we didn't feel claustrophobic. If you stay there, watch for the glass stairway. Stepping down it is a leap of faith.

“Very comfortable and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2009

My husband and I were bicycling through Puglia and reserved the Hotel La Terra for one night in Ostuni. We arrived and were greeted politely and they were very comfortable with our having bikes (we learned later that some bike group tours use La Terra, so bikes are no big deal). The front desk person took them off to the storage area (and the next morning, brought them back for us). The hotel is in a fabulous location; in the heart of the old Ostuni pedestrian area but on a narrow alleyway just off the main drag (so no real noise outside). It is tastefully renovated. The room was on the 3rd floor so we had a great view over the white hilltop buildings -- it was very clean, high celing, good a/c, nice newly tiled bath. The furnishings were a little spare-- bed, side table, armoire -- no paintings -- and the bedspread and curtains not very lush - but there was a very comfortable reading chair by the window and we felt very comfortable.

Ostuni is delightful; we had a great time walking around and checking out the view, shops and churches. The front desk staff were pleasant, maybe not overly friendly, but I think that is because they spoke limited English (at least compared to some other hotels in the area) and it wasn't as easy to chit-chat. Breakfast was lovely, served next door in the restaurant with a very friendly hostess and plenty to eat. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely return next time in Ostuni.

“What a venue - beware staff apart from Rosalba”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2008

Historic building in centre of old town is great. Room clean but average specification. Rosalba of reception very helpful to non-Italian speaker but other staff seemed unhelpful. Breakfast service was appalling - buffet was not refreshed and server blamed cycling group for having eaten everything. Server very aggressive about providing space and food.

If you choose to stay in historic setting, make sure that you are not staying at same time as cycling group and do not expect staff to provide service.

“Lovely hotel with fantastic restaurant (food & wine)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2008

Lovely palazzo converted into a very nice hotel, the perfect location in the historic center of Ostuni, "The White City."
Our room, #103, was very spacious and bright with a window overlooking the pedestrian "street." Guests can enjoy a terrace on the 2nd & 3rd floor, which overlooks all the white rooftops.

Very clean, excellent water pressure, comfortable pillows and beds, and a great location.

The restaurant, San Pietro, is excellent and should not be missed. Their food (& wine) is fantastic and very reasonably priced, especially compared to other restaurants in Ostuni. Highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant.
