We loved the Hotel La Terra during our 2-night stay last week. The hotel's restoration work is first-class, resulting in a warren of rooms arranged in what at first seems to be a confusing pattern but later becomes intriguing and special.
Our room was a triple just over the hotel entrance with plenty of room to spread out, at least 50% larger than a typical room. The arched roof and the enormously thick masonry walls gave us the quietest 2 nights of sleep our grown family of 3 had during our vacation. The street below our balconied window had no traffic to speak of and no wandering revelers late at night in this magical ancient town. The relaxing view of the cobbled street below was an additional joy as one could drink in the ambience while watching the strolling couples from one floor above. Not all of the rooms have balconies, we just got lucky.
Omar happily went out of his way to make sure we knew how to find all the special areas of the hotel. One night our family took advantage of one of the two upstairs public terraces for a sunset session enjoying the view of Ostuni while sampling some of the wine and cheese we'd bought on our trip. Great memories already.
You can see from other reviews that the parking situation is special. We had absolutely no trouble with it since the staff goes out of their way in every respect to ferry you or your car to and from a clean and safe location. The luggage rolling distance is 50meters on a nearly-level cobbled street - the car comes to you and the staff is happy to help you with luggage. Remember to arrange for car recovery timing as you take breakfast on your outgoing day.
What's more, as we drove away from Ostuni after checking out we noticed that someone had thoughtfully wiped our rental car's formerly-filthy windscreen absolutely clean without us having asked. Delightful and appreciated!
Everything worked just as we hoped it would, even exceeding our expectations for this hidden gem of a tourist town. We would definitely book the Hotel La Terra again.
