“Excellent Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at Pension Sofia during our 2 days on Paros, in between Santorini and Athens.

The pension is located near the main beach in town and is set amongst a beautifully landscaped garden that the owners themselves have developed. Our room had a double bed, and a single. It also had a balcony with a view over the gardens. Our second day on the island was incredibly windy, and it was impossible to leave the pension without being blasted by sand, so the balcony was a great place to sit and enjoy the sun, a good book, and a cold beer; all while staying sheltered by the wind. The hotel has free WiFi and an internet terminal in the lobby. The owners were very friendly and even gave us a ride to the ferry terminal when we checked out. We would definitely recommend this place to stay while in Paros!

We had arrived on the island without any place reserved to stay for the night. We hopped in a car with a rep from one of the other hotels in town and went to check it out. The place he took us was a dump but for the price (35 euros) we figured it was okay. After settling in I decided to go for a walk and find the Pension Sofia as it was recommended in my Lonely Planet guide book. After finding it and talking to the owners, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a room available and it was only 40 Euros per night! Needless to say we cancelled our room at the previous place and moved over to the Pension Sofia!

“Great cheap hotel in Paros!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Great hotel 5 minutes walk to town. Lovely grounds with beautiful gardens. Staff especially sofia and her husband were amazing and extremely helpful. Picked us up no problem and when I thought the ferry left at 1355 and i realized last minute it was 1335 he stopped what he was doing and took us to ensure we made the ferry. Very concerned with the happiness of the guests. Did not have the breakfast but it looked amazing, again paying careful attention to presentation. Our room had a balcony from which we could see the ocean a little bit which was a pleasant surprise. The only complaint I have is the bed is hard. Other than that this hotel is perfect. Safe area. This hotel can not be beat for the price! Will definitely come back if we return to paros!

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony with slight sea view are great.

“Great Choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We stayed in Pension Sofia for several days in September. It was delightful. The grounds are so well cared for and the room was very clean and comfortable. What made it especially nice was that it was within walking distances to shops and restaurants.

“Gorgeous family friendly spot!”

We stayed at Pension Sofia for a few days and my mother and one year old daughter were there for a week. The rooms were small but very clean and cute, decorated nicely and had all the amenities. Sofia was great about making sure we had hot water and kettle for making baby bottles and washing, anything we needed she provided. Sofia and Emmanuel were so helpful and kind to my mum and the baby, helping her with the baby stroller and made her feel like family. The wifi didn't work too well in the rooms, but it worked on the balcony and there is also a computer in the front lobby that is available and usually free. The garden everyone talks about is just as beautiful as we read, probably even more so! They also had so many animals - dog with puppies, cat with kittens, bunnies, turtles, a bird - the best play spot for a one year old we could have asked for! They even have a baby swing in this gorgeous setting. You can take breakfast anywhere at the tables scattered throughout the garden. It is only a short 2 block walk down the alley to the main street along the waterfront, and not a steep or difficult walk. Yet the hotel is out of the hustle and bustle of town and feels truly like a sanctuary. We couldn't have asked for a nicer spot, definitely recommend it!!!

“Loved Our Stay Here”

We had a fabulous stay at Pension Sofia in June. The inn was clean and bright. Our room was spacious and had a great balcony that almost doubled our floorspace. The location is very good - easy walking distance to the town and close to the beach. The only drawback is that it's not directly on the beach and water views are across rooftops. We were picked up at the ferry terminal and driven the few blocks to the pension which was a really friendly way to start our visit. We rented a car and used the free parking provided. The car rental was really terrific for seeing more of Paros and not being confined to the schedules of public transportation. We loved driving along and stopping at whatever beach or taverna struck our fancy. We didn't have full breakfasts at the hotel but I did have a cappuccino every morning, and sitting on the terrace in the morning with coffee, perfect weather, and a gentle breeze is one of my favorite memories of the trip. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for good value in a very clean, nicely decorated, comfortable friendly accommodation. The only thing that didn't work quite as we would have liked was the internet. The wireless is limited to a few areas outside, has spotty coverage and seems to be dependent on the weather and time of day.
