My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Convent Garten in the middle of September, on our journey up through Germany to Denmark.
The staff, all of them, could not have been more helpful and indeed charming. The public areas contained wonderful large scale models of commercial ships; a delight for overgrown schoolboys.
Our room overlooked the Kiel Kanal where we could watch the ships sail from the North Sea to the Baltic, or maybe the other way round; (all day and all night if we had been so inclined). The fun was almost silent, but well worth watching.
Our room was large and comfortable enough, the bathroom worked as advertised, though I wish hotels in general would be more generous in installing larger showers; not necessarily to have room to shower with a friend, just so that those of us inclinded to be larger than average, could turn without hitting the walls.
The restaurant was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast; the staff being helpful and charming and the offerings of excellent quality.
The cost at the end of our stay was much lower than we had expected it to be for the quality on offer; the calculation was checked to see if anything had been left out; nothing had, but we continued our journey in a good mood as a result.
One niggle; as a handicapped ex-serviceman, I noticed that there was no ramp to the reception area from the outside world. In days gone by when, wheelchair bound, I would have needed such a ramp, this would have been a source of irritation!
No complaints at all; we rate this hotel as one we would happily and willingly return to and would unhesitatingly recommend to our friends.
