Like many of this chain, this location is in an industrial park/big box center (the German equvalents of places like Home Depot and Ikea are nearby) just off the autobahn. It is not fancy and the surrounding area is pretty busy. That being said, this was a small oasis in the industrial park. This is the same company as Motel 6 in the US, and most Americans would find this chain to be somewhat better than a Motel 6 but not the fanciest. It is clean, and the rooms are of decent size for Europe (with bathroom and shower in the room) and there is plenty of free parking. The drawbacks are that it is not close to the city center or transit, form what we could see, and the only food withing walking distance was a McDonalds and a Burger King (and a food truck at the DIY store), excepting the hotel restaurant itself. The reception was very friendly and there was plenty of tourist info and maps avialable. There was a computer in the lobby for checking e-mail and WIFI in the rooms, though we were unable to get the WIFI working correctly (not unusual in our stay in Europe). The restarant had a bar with hot snacks open late, which was refreshing for us as we had had a long drive from Reims through the Ardennes to Cologne, and a cold Koelsch (the local beer) on tap hit the spot--and we were able to watch the Friday night Bundesliga soccer game on their HDTV. We did not get breakfast there due to the expense (6-7 Euros each). McDonalds was far cheaper. This loaction was close to suburban sports we wanted to visting such as Lovenich, where my old penpal lives, and Efferen, where I lived while attending the university some 30 years prior. I am not sure how it would serve for someone wanting to visit the city for more than a day trip. But it was very convenient for someone with a car. I think we paid less than 45 Euros, which was good value, by booking in advance on their website.
