“Much nicer since last year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

28 September 2011 for one night before our flight back to Canada
We had stayed at this hotel in September and October of 2010 on arriving and departing Germany.
The hotel has completed many renovations and the hotel looks very nice. The lobby and lounge area are very nicely finished now with some wonderful touches.
The rooms have been wonderfully upgraded as well. The door locks are proximity locks now and that is much easier than the old ones. The main part of the twin bed room we shared now has a flat screen TV, small fridge, pretty fabrics on the bed and windows, a comfortable set of chairs, nice dresser, reading lamp and comfy beds with duvets.
The bathroom is also renovated with a lovely showerhead, new tile, pretty counter and sink.
Breakfast was pretty good and the breakfast room looks very nice. Service was good.
We enjoyed this hotel very much and I would recommend it to others looking for a place to stay before or after a flight. It is important to remember this isn't a 5 star hotel, but it is nice, has nice staff, is clean and offers a good breakfast.

“reasonable”

Just got back from a business trip to frankfurt. i had to go there for a three days seminar held at another hotel - nh in morfelden. i followed the advice from a tirpadivsor reviewer and took the 751 (752) bus from the airport. the hotel is in the middle, between two stops: am Wildzaun and Wohnpark. coming from the airport, the best way is to get off at am wildzaun and continue straight until the first road crossing, where you make a left. the hotel is behind albatros airport hotel, on an alley. there is a sign on the main street towards the hotel and again at the beginning of the alley there is a sign "Nordernstrasse 14". you turn left there (again) and end up in front of the entrance. it looks kind of dubious at first, but don't get scarred. the hotel is turkish, but they speak english and they are helpful. I got there at 11 am and even though the policy was to check in at 1 pm, the receptionist called the cleaner and in 15 minutes I was in my room. the reception area is small, but it leads into a big lobby with seating areas and a doorway to the breakfast room. i'll get back on that later. i was assigned a room on the 3rd floor, so i passed through the lobby and i took the lift. an old but refurbished one. the hallways are huge, with turkish decorations. the access to the room is by card, it works like a proximity card, you just hoover it over the reader and turn the handle. it's very simple. i had read reviews saying how hard it was to get in. maybe they changed the system in the meantime, but now it very easy. the room is huge as well, with a large bathroom with shower. the light in the bathroom is blue, coming from some leds near the mirror, but it is enough. everything is brand new. i had hot water all the time, even late at night. the room has all you need furniture-wise and it reminded me of the hotel at parndorf near vienna. the quality of the furnishings is not the same, but i looks ok and i was pleased with what i saw. the beds are comfortable, the mattresses are medium to hard and i had a very relaxing sleep. the downsides: i went to breakfast the first morning and the selection for the buffet was more than plentiful, with hot food like eggs, sausages, potatoes in different styles, and cold food like cereal, all sorts of jams and marmalade, cheese and vegetables. tea and coffee, of course. unfortunately, there were small flies around the food, like the ones you usually get around fruits and wine. and there were a lot! this kind of put me off and i skipped breakfast the next morning. i went again on my last day, and there were no more flies. maybe it was an accident, I don't know, but it was not a nice way to start your day. they were having construction works being done around the hotel, maybe the flies came from there, because i had a few in my room as well. i wouldn't have minded them, hadn't i seen the horror at breakfast. anyway, as i said, on the third and final day the breakfast was very good. another mishap was with the wifi. i much appreciated the hotel based on the free wifi. the first night it was ok, but on the second one, after already being connected to the internet for a while, it just dropped. i called reception and he said that there is nobody there to handle it. it was late anyway, so i let it go and got to sleep. i expected the next evening to arrive back at the hotel and to have internet with no problem. but it was not the case. i went to the reception and the guy gave me the password for another network, but it only worked at the reception desk and it was bad reception anyway. 3 meters away, in the sitting area, the signal was dead. so i was unable to work. when i decided to go back to my room, frustrated and making plans to ask for a refund the next day, I pressed the wrong button and i ended up on the second floor instead of the 3rd where i was staying. when i got off the lift, there was a man sitting on the floor (carpeted wall to wall) with his laptop. i asked him if he had internet connectivity and he said yes, so i joined him. after a while, i realized that he was actually working for the hotel and in about an hour he said it was ok to go to my room, as internet should have been available there. i went back and connected fine to the wifi, the signal was weaker than on the first night but still...it worked! and so could I. the receptionist was nice enough to me to make me forget about complaining. he said that it was due to construction works and that he was also infuriated by this. he asked me about the room and my stay and i said it was fine. i don't understand why they didn't fix the problem during the day, while i was out, but at least it worked later that evening. another thing that i didn't enjoy was the lack of heat in the room. it was quite chilly outside and i suffer from cold, but the radiator was not heating up. probably the only turn on the heat when the weather gets worse. i never asked them about heat, it was bearable so i just went with it. these are the only "bad" things i can say about hotel global in walldorf. if you do not drive there and rely on the public transport, beware that buses are quite rare, once every hour only exept early mornings when you have 2 in an hour (for example you have buses at 7.25 and 7.55, but only at 8.56, 9.56 and so on after that. 751 and 752 (with wohnpark stop 7 minutes away from the hotel once you get used to where everything is) go to morfelden banhof (rail station) from where you can get the s-bahn to central frankfurt or trains to other destinations. i had to go to hotel nh for the seminar, so i had to change buses at morfelden banhof. i took 663 to hessenring. i knew from the start that it is a bit hard to commute from hotel global to hotel nh, but with a difference of almost 100 euros per night, i thought it was worth the trouble. and it was! i only spent 116 pounds for 3 nights, whereas hotel nh would have charged me 350 pounds. so hotel global in my opinion very reasonable, with very nice rooms, free wifi and excellent breakfast (with small exceptions) and i would consider staying there again. big thumbs up for this and the daily cleaning of the room. another info about the local transport, it costs 1.6 for a single short bus ride, 2.4 for a longer one, and the tariff depends on where you are traveling. for example, i paid 9.5 euros for a "tageskarte" (day travelcard) for walldorf-morfelden and frankfurt (including airport and city center). a day travelcard only within walldorf-morfelden in 3.8 euros. so if you are going to frankfurt for sightseeing, take into account travel expenses to/from the hotel everyday (9.5euros/day). this is unrelated to hotel global specifically, had i staid at hotel nh, i would have paid 9.5 anyhow in order to see the city center on my only free day. even though it can seem a bit tacky at first sight, do not hesitate to stay at hotel global. it was more than worth it!

“Clean, simple, clean with a nice Turkish breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

This is a good basic hotel, stayed overnight while driving through Germany. Reception man was good and got us sorted with a room even we didn't have a reservation. Room was clean, small TV by modern standards. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was included in the price and was good with various Turkish specialties. For 53 Euro in Frankfurt you can not go wrong.

“Terrible service and noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2011

The Hotel Global was booked for an overnight layover at Frankfurt airport, in order to catch a flight the next day early morning. Checking out the hotel on Google Maps, it looked like it was close to the airport, but in reality it was a 25 euro trip away. Paying 43 euro for the room, adding 25 euro each way for taxi, it suddenly became quite expensive. 93 euro goes a long way for a hotel within walking distance of FRA or at least one with airport shuttle service like the Park Inn.

While the service was all smiles towards me, I heard a different story from the taxi driver whom I hired to take me to the airport in the morning. While he was waiting to pick me up from the hotel and drive me to the airport, the hotel staff tried to chase him away. He had to argue loudly with the hotel staff in order to pick me up. According the the taxi driver, it is common for the hotel staff to chase away pre-ordered taxis and instead hire friends of the staff who are taxi drivers.

The room was tired and smelled vaugely like old smoke, even though it was on a separate non-smoking floor. Inside the room there was a very old TV, basic amenities in the bathroom and dim lighting. The Internet connection was via WiFi and free to use, but functioned very poorly in my room. I had to pull up a chair next to the door in order to get a strong enough signal.

The room was very poorly sound proofed and I could hear clear conversations from the hallway and loud slamming of doors throughout the night. On the door itself was an enormous list of rules, who among others, prohibited people to bring alcohol into the room. There was no mini bar, not that I car too much for them anyway, and the hotel bar was empty without content or staff.
