“Not Happy with service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We booked and paid in advance for an overnight stay in this hotel as a stopover on the way to Austria. We phoned in advance to warn them we would be quite late and were informed that although the night porter would have left by midnight, we would be able to access the hotel and our room key would be left out in the Late Key box.
Anyway, when we arrived at 12.30am, the door was locked. We both tried to look for another door but no joy. It was definitely locked. I tried ringing the number and got an answerphone message. I don't speak German so had no idea what the message said. Anyway, I left a message saying we were outside the hotel and the door was locked.
It was sub-zero dgrees and we had two young children with us so after 20 mins we decided to try another hotel down the road which was open. Luckily we got a room there. I returned to the Comfort Hotel the next day to explain what had happened and request a refund. The man behind the desk was rude and loudly proclaimed that the door was definitely not locked and implied I just didn't know how to open it - he even demonstrated how to open it (it was just a matter of pulling the door open...nothing complicated). This despite the fact that I had no trouble opening it that morning! He said he had been called out at 01.30 as a guest had lost his room-key and it wasn't locked then.
He wouldn't entertain the fact that perhaps one of his guests had locked it and another had opened it with their room key. But there was a Christmas party nearby and many of the party-goers were staying at the hotel so I thought it was a reasonable assumption. He was adamant we were at fault and didn't know the difference between a locked and unlocked door. Why would we lie after a long journey and decide to change hotels at 12.30 am with exhausted children? We gave up trying to reason with him, he was starting to shout at this stage so we left.
Anyway, long review for a hotel I didn't even stay at but the customer service isn't great. I got back 50% of the room price once I complained to Hotels.Com who I booked through. But can assure you I will never book there again.

“Bad choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Property's fine--or at least adequate for a layover stay exiting Europe. The rest of the story....

Start with getting there. Nobody in the US gets away with calling something an "Airport" hotel when it's 15- minute cab ride or a 35-minute bus trip from the terminal. Their internet listing alluded to a shuttle (and an unspecified fee). There is no shuttle. A cab does not become a shuttle simply because they called it for you. Taking the bus TO the hotel was cheaper and worked--but not without the gracious gentlemen who changed his own plans and rode the bus with us to make sure we got there, or the other fellow, equally kind, who drove us to the hotel after we wandered about asking questions for twenty minutes trying to find the place.

Overnight is OK, but you couldn't STAY here. There's nothing in the neighborhood but a handful of other hotels, a strip mall passed its prime, and a LOT of light industrial, noisy, properties. I must mention, the supermarket in the strip mall, since there's nothing else around to visit. It's nice. You won't starve.

Booked online and paid in full--got the receipt with my confirmation number. I'm still trying to figure out why I was charged twice. Nobody's answered my emails after three days.

Hallways REEKED of smoke. Room didn't. It was clean, spare, and small. Water pressure in shower gets a 10. Staff adequate (though incompetent at bookkeeping/billing). Ten euro breakfast very good, but almost identical to the one which came free each day at my hotel in Rome. Beds comfortable, but separate covers for each party in a double bed are nonsense. Pillows were TOO big--like sleeping with another person and only slightly softer. Didn't try the restaurant.

You can surely do better.

.

Room Tip: Best way to get a good room would be try a REAL airport hotel.

“Nice stay, good sleep dinner and excellent breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We stayed in this hotel coming back from bangkok, going home by train to Holland next day We had a family room for us and our 3 young children. Room was spacious clean and quiet, close to the airport and at a good price. We had dinner in the spanish morrocan restaurant which was a very good and unexpected pleasant surprise as we only expected bratwurst. Breakfast was just great with fresh fruit, eggs, even several types of french cheeses and hot chocolate specially made for our children. We can recommend this hotel if you need to stay close to frankfurt airport, dont want to spend a fortune and want a good night of sleep and breakfast the next morning. And free internet access.

“Do not stay at this Hotel- grungy and overpriced!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

Made the mistake of staying here the night before we flew home to Canada... I probably would have had a better sleep in a chair at the airport. Dated furnishings; dusty and grungy. The man who gave us our room key also works in the restaurant (?!?)...needless to say I lost my appetite when I walked into this place so I did not try the restaurant. My boyfriend went down and ordered some tapas - that's why we know the same man at the front desk also cooks in the restaurant. He took my boyfriend's order and told him he would call him in our room when it was ready (about 1 hour later!). 120 euros a night- completely overpriced. Cost us 27 euros to take a taxi to the hotel from the train station then 20 euros the next morning to take a cab to the airport (we were told when booking that there was a free hotel shuttle- uhm, right...). When we checked in we told the man behind the desk that we thought the shuttle was included and he just shrugged his shoulders and called us a cab to pick us up at 6AM the next morning. We were nervous that the cab wouldn't be there since the hotel employee seemed to be multi tasking (ie. checking people in, cooking in the kitchen and when we needed an extra blanket he was the one who brought it up). The cab did come on time but the driver was very unfriendly.
The hotel itself (as mentioned by other reviewers) is in an ugly industrial park with other small, dumpy looking hotels scattered amongst the factories. Thank goodness we didn't arrive early in the day because there is nothing to do or see around there.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and the elevator is so tiny it only fits 1 person and 1 large suitcase- we had to make 2 trips to get to our room. It was the smallest elevator I have ever been in. Beyond comprehension how a hotel could have an elevator that would not fit at least 2 people and their luggage.
Our room had an 'African' theme- a sad looking poster tacked to the wall and some dusty feathers stuck in a vase in the corner plus a few wooden elephants thrown in for good measure ( this contrasted with the circa 1981 dusty floral drapes... nice) - that, coupled with the dim lighting, made a very depressing, dark room.
The bathroom had a sink with an automatic faucet that had only one temperature (lukewarm). There was a drain in the bathroom floor that gurgled when the water drained and then a bad smell would waft out. Yuck. The toilet was not clean.
I slept about 2 hours the whole night due to the hard bed, scratchy sheets, uncomfortable pillows and the worst... the sound of the high speed railway line nearby that ran all through the night. There seemed to be a train going by every 1/2 hour. The walls are so thin that I could hear someone snoring in the next room.
So, 120 euros plus the 2 taxi rides is 167 euros- just checked online and the Sheraton- RIGHT AT THE AIRPORT; starts at 199 euros. Definitely worth it to pay more to stay in a nicer place. On our 15 minute cab ride to the airport I noticed many hotels closer by...I actually questionned the man who checked us in about whether there was something closer and he said that there was only one 5 star hotel at the airport and that it was 400 euros a night. The next morning, approaching the airport, I noticed multiple hotels right near the hotel- the Sheraton and the Hilton Garden Inn are right at the train station directly across from the airport and are both roughly 200 euros a night (no cab rides necessary!) making it an extra 30 euros well spent.
This is the first time I've been motivated to post a review to Trip Advisor....if I prevent even one person from staying at this miserable place then I'll be happy !

“Industrial Park hotel with no frills”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

You get what you pay for, and it seems that Euro 64- doesn't get you much these days.
The rooms are adequate and clean but the service is abrupt and unfriendly; the TV channels are only German; the Internet requires registration with a Euro 1.63 fee (why???!) and is Absurdly slow; there is no airport shuttle (and this is supposedly an airport hotel?!) and the location is an industrial park with a few cheap clothes shops and supermarket (not really suitable for that last minute present buying). So, all in all, a no-frills hotel in a no-frills location.
Cannot comment on the food as the restaurant was dead when I arrived and not open in time to do breakfast for an early flight out.
