This was the third time I have stayed in the Chez Walter. First time I came out from Bastia Port by train and walked back the short distance from Casamozza station. This time we came from the Airport by taxi (not cheap).
The hotel still has a comfortable French country hotel feel. You are indeed out in the country. The staff were helpful. The standard price rooms are indeed a bit small but had aircon and balconies. The lawns outside are large and we set out and had a drink. There is tennis. We went into Bastia by train, and then took another trip to walk along the coast. The plan was to take the train to Ajaccio, a really brilliant journey, but there was work on the track and we did not fancy the bus.
We ate in the nearby restaurant. The price of the menu at CWalter was a bit scary but it is a fine restaurant. Then we discovered a set menu was was absolutely superb and worked out cheaper than going next door!!! The big benefit of staying at CWalter is that restaurant. Splendid.
After a few days we went back to the airport, hired a car and headed off for Ile Rousse. We enjoyed it and I would stay there again.
