“Treat yourself to a stay in a true chateau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Our stay was a true highlight of our six weeks in Europe. The owners rent 5 rooms in their beautiful chateau in the countryside outside the small town of Esvres in the Loire region. It's convenient to drive to the Loire chateaus and back for evening. The owners were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for our tour. They serve a very pleasant breakfast in the morning that affords a chance to talk with other guests. We stayed in the very large Empire room that had french doors that opened onto the veranda. All in all, an experience not to be missed.

Room Tip: Use google maps to locate the chateau.

“Wonderful Stay at the Chateau de la Villaine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at this Chateau on 18&19 November for a short weekend stay in the Loire. We stayed in the Gentilhomme room which was quite large and was comprised of three beds and a portable bed for our baby. The room was nicely made and the bathrooms were fully updated.

During our stay Joke was traveling with her sister, so we did not get to sample the divine cooking as described in the reviews, hopefully next time! However, Adrian still prepared a wonder French breakfast with excellent croissants, served us very nice wine from their private collection and was sure to provide us with tips and guidance on places to go and things to see (at our request).

The stay was simply perfect and I look forward to the opportunity to visit again!

“Fabulous Chateau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Fall in the Chateau!! We had our first frost and the trees were beautiful. Adrian and Joke, owners and operators, are a lovely couple from The Hague who speak perfect English and had the absolute best croissants ever!! Each morning!! Fresh from the Patisserie in the little town of Esvres on the Indre. Having the 5 course gourmet meal that Joke cooked (Duck Confit!!) was pure delight accompanied by Adrian's choices of wine for each course. All for 37 euros.
We highly recommend this beautiful Chateau filled with antiques, unusual collections and fire in the fireplace. Thanks Joke and Adrian for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: The Gentilhomme room that we were in had a King bed and 2 twins in a private nook

“Wonderful place to stay - amazing dinner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

This Chateau is owned and run by a lovely couple who truly understand outstanding service. They are very warm and welcoming hosts and one feels as though they are visiting rather than renting a room. My husband and I stayed for two nights. The room we stayed in is nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable.

We had dinner at the chateau one night. The food was fabulous! Breakfast is a typical French breakfast. It was fresh and it was good.

The touring advice we asked for was great.
We would definitely return to the Chateau de la Villaine

“Great Chateau in Loire Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We really loved this place. The room we had (I believe it was called the Marquise) was quite large, and had a sunroom, private bath and semi-private terrace. The location was good for visiting chateaus and castles in the Loire Valley. Adrian and Joke were terrific hosts; Joke is a wonderful cook (be sure to eat at least one dinner there!) and they were both great company. We enjoyed our fellow guests as well. Adrian made some very helpful suggestions (at our request) for sites to visit and other restaurants in the area. It was very comfortable and I would definitely stay there again.
