“too expensive, a shower/bathroom like you could expect in a youth hostel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

We stayed with our family of 4 for a full week; we liked the connecting door between the rooms; however the bathroom was terrible (see photo). The price wasmuch too high for the kind of room you get; breakfast was chaotic, messy; not enough staff to keep up with the supply of plates, breads, cleaning of tables, etc; the orange juice (squeeze-it-yourself) was a bad idea: big mess, not enough glasses, and a big waiting line. The room next to the eating room was used for the breakfast as well. However, it was terribly run-down: curtains coming down, tables coming from a conference room; you eat your breakfast on a (MacDonalds-like) tray! [on checking out we complained and we got a small refund for this inconvenience]. The sheets of our beds were never renewed (we stayed for 7 nights). Beds were inferior and squeeked on every movement.

“We all want to go back again next year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

Pro: Big comfortable rooms, wonderful view. Fantastic surfing beaches right outside your window. Spotlessly clean, pleasant decor and fittings with amusing wildlife theme (but not overblown). Decent breakfast and comfortable terrace outside bar. Staff were attentive and helpful. Free wifi throughout the hotel for guests (including this should now be a basic provision for all hotels, like bedsheets and pillows) A choice of about 30 great restaurants within a 3 minute walk.

Cons: An odd mixture of tea/coffee provision whereby kettle and fridge was supplied, but only ludicrous tiny paper cups (2 per room) and shot glasses. A quick trip to local intermarche secured milk and tea and some mugs for a few Euros. Breakfast was adequate, but clearly there were electrical problems with appliances like toasters and drinks dispensers, as the fuses kept tripping. The staff were clearly used to this so it should be solved rather than lived with as this shouldn't be acceptable in such an expensive hotel. The price is very high, but I guess you're paying for the superb location.

“Fabulous location, good clean rooms and friendly staff, non-working A/C”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

The hotel could not have a better location, being right on the beach at Capbreton. The staff were very friendly and helpful (except for an air conditioning issue outlined below). Our room was large, clean and well equipped. Additionally, we had a nice view of the beach. An adequate breakfast was also included in the price of the room. Our only complaint related to the air conditioning in our room, which did not work. We informed the front desk of this fact shortly after arrival, who told us that it would be fixed. When we got back from dinner, it was still not working. At checkout, I again brought this to the attention of the staff, who this time did not seem interested in what I had to say. I would guess that the next occupant of the room will also not have air conditioning.

“Nice location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

Location is very good, next to a nice family beach. Free parking, free wifi in the lounge area. The terrace is a nice place to chill and watch the world go by! They advertise an indoor heated pool, but you have to pay to use it. The rooms are nice and spacious, but I think that is because it used to belong to the hospital / care centre / reabilitation centre next door - plenty of room to get a wheelchair around. The theme of the hotel is wildlife/jungle, in the evening walking back to the room you can hear wild birds chirping! The only gripe I have is this; they have a selection of World clocks in reception, displaying the time of the most popular cities...except London? LOL I know, its silly, but very noticeable.

“Good but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

This hotel is in a very good position right adjacent to the beach. We had an excellent but expensive room with a balcony overlooking the beach with a fantastic view towards Biarritz. It is a bit like a very good Novotel in design and standards. The restaurant was good.
Very busy area as was to be expected in late August. Probably a lot nicer off-peak.
Huge choice of restaurants down the sea-front.
No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, which was disappointing. Although there is a mini-kitchen and fridge, but no utensils. What is it about these mini-kitchens? What purpose do they actually serve?
If you are looking for a beach holiday you would struggle to find anywhere better. If you want a quiet rest go in January!
