During our two week trip through the former Yugoslavia we stayed in a variety of places - a farmhouse, pension, western chain hotel, etc. No stay was more unique than our stay at Hotel Castle Bezanec.
Our stay was both great and a little odd. What was great - the room was really nice and decorated as you would expect an old castle room to be. Separate sitting room with tv, nice sized bathroom and comfortable bed. Also great - the courtyard restaurant. We dined there one night by candelight and it was quite romatic. We each got a massage as well. The prices were unbelievably low and while the masseuse was good, the setting was just a tiny room, not a nice spa-type area. However, the massage itself was good, especially for the price. What was odd - nobody else seemed to be staying there! It wasn't a bad thing, just a little weird that we were the only people around.
The hotel is a little bit off the beaten path and we had some difficulty finding it. However, once we figured it out we were fine. We used the hotel as a base when traveling to northeast Croatia, western Hungary, northeastern Slovenia and a bit into Austria.
Given that we were not near a major tourist area, I think this hotel was a lucky find as I'm not sure what other types of accomodations are available in this part of Croatia.
