Because of this hotel chains american connections we did expect a little more than what we got, but it is, most certainly, not, the worse hotel we have stayed in in Europe. The rooms we were given on registration were not suitable but were exchanged willingly and pleasantly. One room was on the street level and windows opened right onto the street . as there was no screens or bars this was not suitable or safe, it was also very hot and no air conditioning in the Hotel. The other room did not have a walk in shower. Our bedrooms were clean and looked newly furnished and decorated, bathrooms large and roomy and very modern. It looked like many other rooms were under renovation, definately needed. The front door, was, strangely, always locked and the whole Hotel was locked up tight at 11 pm!!! It did not look like any staff slept there and we were convinced we were the only people there, alone, most nights! We did feel quite alone after 11pm when the bar closed.Towels could do with replacing, they were well worn and threadbare. Room was not cleaned until after 5pm on the Sunday and the person vacuming the public rooms did only what she saw, under the furniture the dust was thick as well as on the furniture and above eye level in the bedrooms ! Not many staff: we saw only 3 girls cleaning and acting as dogsbody and one gentleman on reception. Staff were very friendly but spoke little english. Aslo single beds in both our rooms were quite small, the mattresses kept moving off the frame when one turned over, this would make you fall out of bed!!!! This could be a super Hotel if attention to detail was just a little better.
