We stayed one night in this hotel, which we selected for its proximity to a nearby salt mine tour. The owners were friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was quite satisfactory. The hotel wifi was immediately accessible - no fussing as can sometimes be the case. The hotel's rural location and the time of year (early October) meant that the surroundings were quiet. There was ample, convenient parking. However, there is no lift in the main building, and rooms are upstairs, so don't overpack your suitcase!
The road signage going through Hallein was a bit confusing, but we were able to locate the hotel after only having to backtrack once.
The owners answered our emails promptly, and clearly strove to please their guests. We would be happy to stay here again.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful.
However, we cannot recommend the Hallein salt mine tour (even though the wooden slides were terrific fun). After taking the train into the mountainside, there was an extended walk - at least 2/3 of a kilometer - uphill through a barely-lit tunnel with uneven footing. There is more walking required at the end of the tour in order to return to the train. It would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, or who is in below-average physical condition. This is not mentioned by the tour operator at any point in advance of being faced with the situation, and it should have been. Try another salt mine tour, or at least be prepared for the walking at Hallein.
