The rooms are wonderful, you have personalized service, and staff are friendly and smiling.

The Lake Side Cabana were really great,
privacy was ensured.
The Michelin starred restaurant has a very good Sommelier,
who recommended me a bottle of Austrian RED Wine which can
match the Bordeaux red with just a fraction of the prices.

I have recently come back from a 10 day break at the Schloss Velden hotel. Everything has been outstanding and this hotel is without any doubts one of the best (if not the best) I have ever stayed .
The hotel has 2 parts : the old castle (schloss) and a modern wing. I stayed in the old part. The room was perfect : quiet, beautifully furnished and very spacious. Free non alcoholic minibar beverages (coke, fruit juices, sparkling and still water) were included in the room price.
Breakfast (included in the room price) is a buffet which offers a great selection of breads, fruit, cheeses, pastries. Warm local sausages , scrambled eggs and bacon are also included in the buffet and a chef is available to cook eggs and omelettes on request.
The Spa is unbeatable: warm pool , fitness room, relaxation rooms and amazing staff providing treatments. Pure heaven.
The food is simply incredible. Silvio Nickol the chef of the 2 Michelin stars restaurant Schossstein is one of the best gifted chefs in Europe. His cooking is pure genius. The second restaurant (Seespitz) is directly on the lake and offers great views and excellent food. But what really sets this hotel apart from the any others is the level of service provided. I have travelled over the years around the globe and this hotel stands out as one the best. The staff was always polite, smiling and happy to help. Nothing was too much to ask. I have never experienced this level of service in any other hotels in Europe, only in the very best 5 stars hotels in the Middle East or the Far East.
The location of the hotel is also great: Velden is a lovely small town located directly on a the lake Worthersee . It is an ideal base to explore the south of Austria as well as the italian North East (Friuli) and Slovenia. By car Velden is only 15 minutes away from Klagenfurt ( a beautiful austrian town) , 1 hour away from Udine a charming (not so well known) small italian town, 1 hour away from Lubjana in Slovenia and 2 hours away from Salzburg.
