Nice little hotel in El Yaque with beachfront terrace, bar and restaurant. I stayed for one week , the room was very small and a bit oldfashioned but clean. Breakfast was included, nothing special, we had some cornflakes with milk, coffee, tea, juice and toast ( which was terrible - at least compared to what I´m used to get at home ). Most days there also were two kinds of fresh juices and some melon.
The hotel staff was very very friendly; during my stay I was the only guest fom Europe, all the others were from Venezuela. Only one ( of the three receptionists ) guy spoke some English, so I had to try and talk Spanish all the time. It only got complicated when the staff "lost" my room key - I tried to explain to them that I left it at the reception ( as I was asked to on my first day ) and they must have misplaced it, but nobody understood me!!! However, after a bad night`s sleep my room key mysteriously "reappeared" at the reception, that was the only thing that kind of annoyed me.
On the weekends, the hotel can get quite noisy because of the beachfront location - Friday and Saturday night I heard people singing, drinking and partying till after midnight.

For someone who doesn`t need a lot of comfort, it is a good alternative to some more expensive hotels next door.

Almost 20 of us from Trinidad and a few from Venezuela went over for a wedding. We stayed 4 days. The place itself was very nice. Nothing extraordinary. We spent most of the time at the hotel, its beach and its bar. The food there was great.
The wedding, held at the hotel, right there on the beach itself was amazing!! Fantastic atmosphere. Very romantic.
The beach was very nice to lay in the sun. The water was calm and swallow going out a long way into the ocean, which means it was alway nice and warm. There are a lot of water sports to do on the beach, windsurfing, parasailing, if you like that stuff. That beach seems very popular, it filled up alot on the weekend. There were a lot of vendors on the beach as well, selling jewelery (especially pearls which are cultivated over there) and some beach wear.
All in all it was very enjoyable. Although, the next time I go back to Margarita, I would like to stay in an all-inclusive hotel, closer to Porlamar (the main city).

we rent car that was good for visiting shopping mall and other places 40 minutes away

El yaque is a small windsurfing village with between 10 and 20 mostly family run restaurants. We felt the best restaurant was the one off el yaque beach hotel. There is not a lot else to do in el yaque apart from windsurf, sunbathe, eat and drink which i found perfectly satisfactory for 2 weeks. In addition there are some windsurfing shops and an internet cafe where you can make international calls. Do not expect your mobile to work in Margarita. Out of 20 people in my windsurfing group my mobile was the only one that worked and that was only outgoing calls. Its was on a vodafone business tariff.

El yaque / Margarita is one of those places you need to experience to understand. Its not Idyllic by a long shot but it does have a charisma of its own. If you go to El yaque then you are there to windsurf . If you were not windsurfing it would be best to stay somewhere else on the island.
I have never been to caribbean before.

I found margarita very nice place. I got a taxis to sambil ( shopping mall ) and a market near porlamar ( the capital ). I also went on a trekking trip which was very interesting. Our windsurf club also organised a trip to another beach where we could surf.

As a people everyone there seems straightforward, nice and glad you are visiting their island.
